Sutton Coldfield Town was founded in 1879 by a group of local cricketers. The club's first recorded match was against Walsall in 1880.
The club joined the Birmingham & District League in 1892 and won the league championship in 1908. Sutton Coldfield Town also won the Birmingham Senior Cup in 1909 and 1910.
The club joined the Southern League in 1920 and remained in the league until 1972. The club's highest finish in the Southern League was third place in 1966.
Sutton Coldfield Town joined the Midland Football League in 1972 and remained in the league until 2004. The club won the Midland Football League Premier Division championship in 1996.
The club joined the Northern Premier League Division One South in 2004 and remained in the league until 2018. The club won the Northern Premier League Division One South championship in 2017.
