About Us
The club was formed in 2005, and started out life in the KickStart league based in Mansfield as Oak Tree Athletic .Although it was very hard work at first, the team improved year on year, and even managed to clinch a cup final place at the end of the 2007/2008 season
The 2008/2009 season saw the team move to a much larger league based in Derbyshire (Rowsley League) Further success was achieved by finishing second in our league (gaining promotion) and winning the Bracken Challenge, which is a prestigious end of season tournament for our age group.
The 2009/2010 season followed a similar path to the previous season, whereby promotion was acheived again by finishing second and we again won the Bracken Challenge.
At the end of 2009/2010 season the team joined forces with the Hosiery Mills Sporting group and a name change ensued. The team is based at the The King George V Playing Fields.
The 2010/2011 season (now in Division 1,) was a steep learning curve, but despite long term injuries to several players and others leaving mid season, we managed to finish in a respectable mid table position. Furthermore, for the third season running we managed to capture the Bracken Challenge Cup amid great celebrations!
The 2011/2012 season yet again saw gradual improvement as we finished 5th in league 1. At the end of the season the club travelled to Holland with thirteen players and parents. The trip was a great success, with the team gaining two great wins, against good opposition, and providing a great bonding exercise for the lads
The quality of players now in the side is now the best we have had in 8 seasons of running the team and the management cannot wait for the start of the new season.
The coming season will again see more exciting additions as two new players come in, and the club reverting to it's original name, namely Oak Tree Athletic. Hopefully we can continue the success of previous seasons and challenge at the top of the table
Good luck to all the players this year and thank you to all parents for your continuing support
Alan
