More about the team

NASA_(Continental) II featured the North East 'Community Champions' League Championship Trophy (main photo) among it's notable regional triumphs, after winning the league title in majestic fashion during season (2009-10)! A historic achievement that will forever be remembered in local football parlance!

The first EVER side of such 'flavour and composition' to triumph against overwhelming odds, obstacles and become 'regional league champions' before resigning from that competition to move in a totally different direction!

The team are also current Tyne-Tees "African" Champions Challenge Trophy & MG Rover (Spares) Northumberland Open Cup holders.

In 2007-13-05- NASA_(Continental) (pictured) overcame cup holders North Tyne to win their 1st major trophy in the CCL. "Hotshot" Louis "Lewy" Ansah's hat-trick and a MOM display from Ray Oshin sealed the win in front of a decent crowd @ Cowgate SG. What with the victories of first Fawdon & then NASA - Sunday 20/5 saw both teams vying for a prestigious league/cup "double". The CCL Grand Final on (2007-20-05) featured long time "red hot favourites" Fawdon Park & in form NASA_(Continental).. Both Group B sides had come through tough, committed, quality (Semi-Final's) against (Group A's) Central Heaton & former Champs North Tyne @ Benfield SC with NASA triumphing over Fawdon in their previous 2 league and cup clashes the stage was set for a high class explosive encounter. Fawdon Park triumphed (4-3) in a magnificent high quality contest acclaimed by the sizeable crowd as possibly one of the greatest 'grassroots' matches witnessed in the regional North-East.

They were then highly touted to make another strong title challenge in (2010-11), amongst other things, as well as regain the National Kidney Federation (Supreme) Trophy, won so impressively, during the Community Champions League season (2007-8).

NASA then summarily returned to the CCL for what was titled long overdue 'unfinished business' 2 years later in (2009-10) winning the league in magnificent fashion in May 2010. 2 weeks later, league-runners-up North Fawdon, smarting at the result, stepped up to the plate, defeating their arch-rivals to win the renamed (NKF Supreme Trophy) which was then called The CCL Divisional Cup, in a final at Bullocksteads, Kenton Bar on the (Number One Showpitch), beating 10 man NASA (2-0) after what can only be described as a "proper" game of football, the match had virtually everything!! Fawdon looked the more hungry and apparently wanted it that bit more?, while NASA came out of the blocks slow and lethargic despite a strong line-up full of quality, their pre-match preparation was shabby, littered with very poor time-keeping on a red hot day in front of a huge crowd. The match was evenly contested with neither side appearing to hold an advantage, however a defensive error resulted in Fawdon taking the lead just before half-time. NASA made a spirited attempt at taking the game to the youngsters of Fawdon with Dumbuya and Onyegbule spurning great opportunities, before the turning point of the game mid-way through the half, when on the advice of asst ref (Vincent) NASA'S keeper Mohsen was sent off for handling the ball just outside his box resulting in his side completing the match a man down.

All told, the result was probably the correct one on the day. Fawdon came with a practical "game plan" and carried it out to perfection. Their "big" players came to the fore and showed their quality when it mattered, while NASA were found wanting. However, NASA had shown their true quality and class over the course of the season and proved they were the best side in the league fully deserving their history making win, in a tremendous advert for the standard and quality of this soon to be 6th season league competition. A truly monumental achievement, the likes of which we may never witness again in our lifetimes! They came, They saw and They conquered.. Veni Vidi Vici.. The mountain was scaled, the peak attained and the promised land of title success achieved!! Nothing and no one can ever take that away from the team, but decisions were taken to step away from that programme and open up opportunities for establishing other outlets for co-operation and comradeship with the formation of the North-East "International" Football Confederation!!! Allez NASA! .

NASA; MOHSEN ROMEI - KEVEIN CHIMA ONYEGBULE - DAVID SHAXON - JEVAN JULL - HERVE MANARA - FELIX DIKA - DEREK EKPO - GAV GREENER - BENY DUMBUYA - LOUIS ANSAH - ELSTROM DIE - SUBS: DAN TURNBULL - On for Herve Manara - JAMES CLARK - On for David Shaxon & KELVIN OSAWARU-OMOIGUI - On for Beny Dumbuya - NOT USED: Omar Khalifa/Suaibu Nkuriza/Pascal Paco-Ekwuluogo/Darren Thompson (G/K) -

UNAVAILABLE FOR SELECTION ON THE DAY; *GLENN FORD/CHRIS CHAN/FRANCIS TSHITENDE/CELIO VASCONCELO/JONATHAN AGBATAR/JONNY SONG-AMOUZOUVI -

With injuries to Ford/Amouzouvi & Tshitende and Vasconcelo, Chan & Agbatar (Work/Commitments) what a difference those big players inclusion would have made? - NASA: MOHSEN - AGBATAR - JULL - FORD - KEVEIN ONYEGBULE - CELIO VASCONCELO - DEREK EKPO - CHRIS CHAN - BENY DUMBUYA - ANSAH - DIE; Greener was patently unfit through injury and out of form, so both himself, David Shaxon and Dika could have been used as high impact subs (On fitness and pace doubts), with starting slots going to Vasconcelo and Chan in a 4/3/3 formation. Manara would definitely have been left on the bench alongside the injured Khalifa, while Tshitende could also have come on to add pace and power either in CENTRE MIDFIELD or more likely as CENTRAL DEFENSIVE partner to Captain Jull with Ford apparently unable to operate at full capacity due to injury. I would dearly love to have had a match fit and ready JONNY SONG-AMOUZOUVI as his undoubted quality and toughness for such a gruelling battle was greatly missed at a crucial time in the season. He would have relished the chance to 'go to war' for his team and matched all Fawdon's tenacity along with the physical challenges. The boy is a true 'warrior' and i salute him still..

4 major influences to NASA'S chances but we'll never know now just how that could have turned out... Personally i would have fancied NASA very strongly had those absent personnel been available, but that's just the way it goes...
