Mellor 3rds were formed in 2016 by a group of local footballers who wanted to play competitive football at a social level. The team has since grown to over 20 players and has enjoyed a successful spell in the Lancashire and Cheshire AFL.
In their first season, Mellor 3rds finished in 8th place in the Lancashire and Cheshire AFL B division. They have since improved each season and finished in 5th place in the 2022-23 season.
