Atlas FC is a Mexican professional football club based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The club was founded in 1916 and currently competes in the Liga MX, the top flight of Mexican football.
Atlas is one of the most successful clubs in Mexican football, having won the Liga MX championship on two occasions, in 1951 and 2021. The club has also won the Copa MX on three occasions, in 1946, 1950, and 1970.
Atlas' home stadium is the Estadio Jalisco, which has a capacity of 60,000. The stadium is shared with Chivas, Atlas' crosstown rivals.
Recent History
Atlas had a long period of underachievement in the Liga MX, failing to win the championship for over 70 years. However, the club finally broke its drought in 2021, defeating León in the Apertura final.
Atlas has continued to be a competitive team in recent years, finishing in the top four of the Liga MX in both the 2021 Apertura and Clausura seasons. The club also reached the final of the 2022 Leagues Cup, where they lost to Seattle Sounders.
