More about the team
'FREEHOUSE' is a local Portsmouth sunday morning football club.
The name 'Freehouse' came from not wanting to be associated to any given public house, hence Freehouse, this giving the club freedom to drink and play where they felt necessary.
The club has been running a couple of years but only in 2009/2010 Wayne Lawton became involved joining with Simon Kimber to run the club together.
Bringing together new and fresh ideas the club had a slow start to the season (09/10) with so many new faces it was taking time to work together, the inclusion of brothers Ben, Dave and Shaun Housome brought some stability to the club and with close friend Nathan Hickley gave it a family feel to the side. Blending youth with experience Dave Ough, Oli Foale and Andy Belshaw adding experience to the club.
By the end of the year the club had improved dramatically, finishing the season one point behind second place PARK ACADEMICS and a narrow defeat in the ADELAIDE CUP semi final to SATURN ROYALE was not a bad end to our first season together.
Looking forward to the new campain 2010/2011 training has started and new players have joined to boost the squad Sab Choudhury, Jake sievwright, Matt Cox and Dean Harris to name a few, competing in division three this year will be tough but expectations are high, confidence is good and with another cup run everything at Freehouse is looking great............
