Down Syndrome Awareness Football Club (DSAFC) is a Sunday League football team made up of players with Down syndrome. The team is based in Wolverhampton, England, and plays in the Warley and District Sunday League Division Three.
DSAFC was founded in 2019 by Shaun Spicer, whose son Jax has Down syndrome. Shaun wanted to create a team where players with Down syndrome could play football and have fun, while also raising awareness of the condition.
The team has been a huge success since its inception. In their first season, they won the Warley and District Sunday League Division Four title. They have also reached the final of the Birmingham County FA Sunday Cup on two occasions.
DSAFC is more than just a football team. It is a community of people who are passionate about raising awareness of Down syndrome and providing opportunities for people with the condition to play football.
