Commercial FC was founded in 1970 by a group of friends who wanted to play football together. The team started out in the Scarborough Sunday League Division 4 and quickly moved up the divisions. In 1990, Commercial FC won the Scarborough Sunday League Division 1 title.
The team has also been successful in cup competitions, winning the Scarborough Sunday League Cup in 1991 and 2002.
