A classy confident display by the Commercial team was easily enough to brush past The Alma on a 'tufty' Olivers Mount Pitch.
A couple of changes from the previous game as Jonny Slater moved back to Wales to play with sheep and Lee was coaching 'mini Lee's' football team, gave a chance for new dad Stuart Lincoln and Veteran Daz Howes to forge a combative central midfield unit.
The Commercial were on top from the off and had a couple of early chances though none of them clear-cut. Pete Noble led from the front with his work rate and effort the main reason for his Man of the Match votes.
Olly Barron was given the pleasure of being in charge of the back four and he did so with ease as they never looked like being breached. Olly, Nick, Adam and Jacko were all fantastic as the defense worked hard to assist the team.
The first goal came from a Mike Clark corner. Accurately fired into the six yard box to find Adam, who was being marked by the tallest man in the box, to head home in the far corner to make it two headers in two games for the right back.
Commercial continued to dominate and had a flurry of corners unfortunatley with no end result.
The second goal came from a typically determined chase by Mike Clark. A ball over the top was chased down by Mike, despite looking like a lost cause. As the keeper came out to collect, he flew in to knock the ball against the keeper, with it rebounding to Tim Boorer around 25 yards out. As the keeper scampered back towards his coal, Boorer calmy looked up and curled the ball over the keeper into the top corner.
The work rate of the first half was top drawer and Geoff Osguthorpe had nothing but praise and encouragement at half time.
The midfield engine of Daz and Stu had kept the work rate of the whole team up with Mike and Jamie on the wings getting up and down and Mike, Jamie, Stu and Pete were all extremely unlucky not to have scored a goal that their work rate deserved.
The second half began as the first had ended with Commercial on top and confortable. And then...tragedy struck!!!
As Boorer was chasing down the ball, the defender just cleared and as he eased to a stop, his ankles buckled (shock horror) with a few clicks for good measure! Another sprained ankle in store as he hopped off the pich to be replaced by the returning Sven.
Shortly after the injury, a great ball over the top found Jamie Fowler bursting dowth the left. A great touch to control, another to set himself, followed by an unstoppable strike down to the keepers right. This made it 3 goals in 2 games for last seasons top scorer.
Not to be outdone, Adam 'the striker of the defense' made it 3 in 2 for himself also. A ball from the wing was flicked on by Jamie Fowler. As the keeper floundered, as he had a few times, Adam pounced to head the ball up and then volley home from 1 yard out.
Pete and Mike who had been at the centre of most things good for the day were wondering what they had to do to deservedly score, however, the keeper was determined to keep them at bay, both being denied by fantastic saves.
The final goal of the day was to come from the midfield maestro Stu Lincoln. He had already had two chances in the game, the first brilliantly saved, the second bobbling just wide - this was unstoppable even for a world class keeper! As Mike and Pete linked up down the right, Mike pulling the ball back to the on-rushing Lincoln. Without a thought, on the edge of the area, Lincoln burst in, first time smash with his right foot. From his boot to the net it flew in, which prompted the famous 'Bebeto' celebration. With a few teammates joining him, the arms were rocking the imaginary baby.
Some more chances came and went but the game was comfortably wrapped up.
Debutant Tom Black had come on for the injured Jacko with 15-20 minutes to go and he certainly started in an accomplished fashion with a great slide tackle.
The defense limited The Alma team to one chance throughout thw whole game, to which Ash was equal to, diving (for the cameras) to his right and pushing the ball away.
All in all, one of the best performances this reporter has seen the Commercial play in a long tome, and hopes it to continue next game.
The Man of the Match was very close between two goal Adam, Midfield Maestro Stu and the unlucky Pete Noble, with the latter just edging out the others due to the work rate, effort and general good play.
The only downside is that Boorer and Jackson look set to be missing for a couple of weeks at least with their injuries, but all in all a great game - The Gaffer will be happy!!
