After watching Jakes Bar against Fairway last week I was expecting us to add some much needed goals to our tally, what a shock i was in for. We went with a bare sqaud this week missing most of lads and Jakes bar looked to have fielded a completely differant unit to the team i watched get the arses handed to em last week.
From the start the game was streched with both teams attacking with some venom, Jakes were playing a long ball up to there unit of striker and it seemed they were going to be rewarded for it at some point but big nath and taka managed to deal with it. At the other end of pitch the returning James Clarke broke through the defensive line but was hacked down from behind inside the box. Tom Costello stepped up to put us in the lead.
It wasn't long before we doubled the tally with 2 of our youngsters stealing the spot light. Jake Stephenson picked up and took it from left to right across the pitch and passing the ball to Lewis Horth to dribble from left to right showing some cracking footwork taking on a couple of players before a great striker with his left from about 25 yards putting it to the far right of keeper to give us a 2 goal gap.
This was short lived however as Jakes managed to get onto a throgh ball and slot it home to make the game more interesting.
It wasnt long after that Tom Costello was played through on goal by the 88 year old Steven Millward to slot home for his brace and our 3rd. 1 of the best assists I've seen this season.
Mark Takac was next to get on the score as Lewis Horth put in a cracking free kick from the left, the keeper came out put spilled the ball onto a waiting Taka to bundle it in to put us up 4-1 at half time.
As the 2nd half kicked off i was confident another goal would have put the game to bed but was in for a shock as Jakes came out swinging and it wasnt long before they bagged there 2nd has Dave Preston blocked a shot but the ball fell for jakes to pick up a sloppy 2nd. Much like the 1st 10 minutes the game became end to end stuff, with Jakes haveing a coupe of subs they were starting to get ontop of us. Tom Costello was honing in o a hatrick but hit the post, then Jakes broke and after a mis communication between Dangerous and the defence the Jakes Striker lobbed the big man to make it 4-3....with 25 mins to go GAME ON!
I'd be lying if i said the thought of a loss hadnt crossed my mind as Jakes just kept coming at our tiring legs, We was picking the ball up at back but struggled to form much of an attack other than a long ball to relieve the pressre which returned. This kept happening until Tom Costello intercepted a pass and took the ball from the half way line past 2 defenders, 1 on 1 with the keeper who came out spreads his arms making himsef bigger, Tom on for the Hatrick smashes the ball high into the top right corner of the..........Keepers nut sack.....we've all been there but its always funny as fuck lol.
Neither team really caused much of a threat after this and the game finished 4-3, keeping us unbeaten in 2015!
