Winter again!

Winter had returned with a vengeance to Droitwich on saturday as a dank and cold day greeted both teams. With the groundsman doing a great job to get the game on,Olympic were down to the bear bones of a squad due to injuries and illness and knew they were in for a difficult morning against a WBA squad riding high in the league.
Indeed it was WBA who started the brighter of the two teams settling into their neat and accurate passing game and getting the ball into the feet of their pacy front line who went to create the first chance of the game but WBA striker blazed his shot over.
WBA must have thought they were going to take the lead some moments later however after great work by their left winger resulted in him driving into the box with only the keeper to beat. However Ash Mace, Olympics stand in keeper, managed to pull off a miraculous triple save to keep the scores level. Olympic responded well and a minute before the break Stanley lost his marker and slotted the ball past the keeper bringing the opening goal. H/T 1-0.
With both teams adapting to the difficult conditions well an exciting end to end game was beginning to emerge and shortly after the break WBA once again broke into the Olympic half and this time Kori Edinborough made no mistake to bring the scores level. Olympic stuck to their plan of trying to stretch the WBA back line with Luke pulling out wide to the right. This paid dividends in the 40th minute when Adam got in front of his defender to slo the ball home after a great ball in from Luke to restore Olympics lead.
Once again this was short lived as WBA continued to press for another equaliser . After another attack seemed to be thwarted by the Olympic back line the ball broke to Joshua Beasley who calmly slotted the ball home to bring the scores level.

There was still time for both teams to press for a winner and by this time Olympic were just beginning to shade the midfield battle. They were now passing the ball well with good movement off the ball which eventually created an opening for Luke who did what he does best and put the ball over the keeper and into the net.
This proved to be the deciding goal in a thoroughly entertaining game with both sides playing some fast flowing attractive football.
Good luck to WBA for the rest of what I am sure will be a successful season for them.
Great effort by the Olympic lads who were stretched to the limit in this game but they responded superbly putting into practice all we had worked on. Remember boys; touch-pass-move, touch-pass-move,touch-pass-move......!
Thanks Rob.
