Away league match played on 30 November 2024.
Kicked off at 9:20 AM

Good Morning Boys,

Please see your match report below.

In an exhilarating league away match at Bishop Justus School on 30 November 2024, Unique FC U8 faced off against Technica FC, ultimately succumbing to a 6-4 defeat. The match kicked off at 9:20 am, setting the stage for a thrilling contest that saw both teams display attacking flair and determination.

Boys, we must start games sharper... I felt the first period we were nowhere near our best. It felt really sluggish. I felt we weren't winning our individual battles well enough but in possession I felt we were a little sloppy. We can't keep giving teams head starts.

Unique FC U8 adopted a 1-2-1 formation, with Tate Semper-Hughes stationed as the goalkeeper. In front of him, Sidney Waller with Jaxton Famutimi and Jude Conroy providing the width. Brooks Hylton led the line as the striker, tasked with converting chances into goals.

The match began with Technica FC taking an early lead in the sixth minute, catching Unique FC U8 off guard. However, the response from Unique was swift and decisive. Just five minutes later, Brooks Hylton found the back of the net, assisted by Tate Semper-Hughes, levelling the score. Almost immediately after, Jude Conroy followed suit, also scoring with the help of Semper-Hughes, putting Unique FC U8 ahead 2-1. Boys, I felt we after our chat at the break, we showed a real response. We were more aggressive, more decisive with our passing and look more like us. This is exactly how we need to start games. Arsenal are the best at starting games sharp and that's something I want to try and get us into the habit of doing. We all need to a little more intensity in our game.

I felt we moved the ball well at times on Saturday however I feel we need to see a little more beliefs in our 1v1s. We all look a little predictable in our 1v1s and are constantly losing our duals in possession.

Technica FC, undeterred by the setback, struck back in the 17th minute, equalising the match once more. Just a minute later, Sidney Waller capitalised on a chance, scoring with another assist from Semper-Hughes, restoring Unique's lead at 3-2. However, the first half concluded with Technica FC scoring again in the 20th minute, leaving the teams tied at 3-3 as they headed into the break.

In the 2nd and 3rd period, specifically the 3rd, I thought we were brilliant. We took total control of the game and was creating opportunities freely. The goalkeeper made the difference for me. What I would say though boys, I feel we can be a little scruffy in front of goal. We need to start calming down and not striking the ball when our body shape isn't set.

Now let's be honest boys, out of their 6 goals, 4 were goalkeeping errors which is going to continue to happen as you boys aren't goalkeepers. Take them 4 away and I feel it's a comfortable win. I don't want us to get too down with it as we have to remember that. I will continue to search for a goalkeeper and in the mean time we will continue to work hard at Futsal and team training.

Well done boys, Jude I thought you had a really positive game.

See you all tomorrow

Ollie
