With just one enforced change, Jamie Hill coming in for the absent Tom Johnson, The Brit went into the game at Star07 in confident mood. With a strong subs bench things were looking positive for us to put right our embarrassing 6 goal defeat in the corresponding fixture last season.
Starting well, The Brit quickly settled a played some good possession football. Caught on the break on the 1/4 hour, Star grabbed an unlikely goal. Patience was key and we quickly got back on top and dominated play. On 35 mins, Jay Smith got on the end of a through ball from Hughes to slot past the on-coming keeper. Further pressure was piled on without another goal.
Orders were to carry on in the same way in the 2nd, making sure we dealt with the long ball over the top and closing down our opponents when in possession a bit quicker.
We retained control and deservedly went ahead on 65 when Stokes crossed, Smith controlled superbly and calmly slotted the ball into the net.
We had one scare with Coley pulling off a superb point blank save to keep the Brit in front. We had a number of further opportunities and on another day could have had another 4 or 5 with a bit more composure in front of goal.
Finished the game 2-1 to consolidate our position in 2nd. Abberley Vale dropped 5 points in their double header against King Billy, Queens Head dropped 3 points in the double vs Hamilton. Areley Kings picked up a 1-0 win at lowly Royal Exchange.
Congratulations to Forest Rangers who with the point they gained vs HETA moved off the bottom of the table for the 1st time this season
