After not playing a competitive game since the end of November the Belvedere boys were chomping at the bit to get a league game finally on at the Redlands 3G even if it was pouring with rain, against the much improved Dolci Vita side.
Although there was worries before the game for manager Durlston with the Belve boys not playing for so long they showed no signs of rustiness and where on the attack straight away from kick-off to put the manager back at ease. Within the first few minutes Deano found himself just inside the box and fired a fierce strike at the Dolci goal but the keeper was equal to the task tipping it over for a corner. A few moments later Campbell-Bell found him self clear just outside the box and tested the Dolci keeper again with a speculative half volley effort. The dead lock was broken within the first ten minutes after Jamie Ross-Mackenzie found Jamie Rawlings in the box who unleashed a great strike leaving the keeper helpless. Shortly after Ashley Hine found the net for his first of the game (after dusting the cobwebs off his Sunday morning scoring boots) Jamie Rawlings supplied the through pass. Another attack from the Belve boys led to right back Dave Sowerby being in the Dolci penalty box where he supplied a great cross for Campbell-Bell unmarked to easily volly home for 3 nil. With some great football now being played by the Belve, Dolci were often chasing shadows with energetic Jamie Rawlings and composed Jamie Ross-MacKenzie dominating the midfield this led to Andy Dixon at centre back finding time to pick out the run of captainGregg with a ball over the top which gregg dispatched after poor goal keeping from the Dolci Keeper. the last goal of the half was again from Mr Hine who finished neatly after good team play and the through ball coming from Jamie Rawlings. Belvedere where loving the game at this point with some great stuff being played but Dolci where hoping it was full time with the score at 5-nil but it was only halftime!
With the second half kicking off the Belvedere seemed to take theire foot of the gas as well as Dolci changing things round at half time meaning a fairly defensive display from them in opening twenty minutes of the half which Dan Turner and Andy Dixon coped with very well. Now after alot of scrappy play taking place from both sides, mid way through the half after some neat play around the box from Belve led Campbell-Bell to found Hine who finished to make the score 6 nil. The game now well over and with rain still coming down, the Dolci did no longer wanna be on the pitch so with no one willing to chase and a run down the left wing from Campbell-Bell led to him pulling it back for Hine to easliy tap in for his fourth of the game!
A great team performance from the Belvedere today against a good side that were made to look less than there third place in the league shows them. Welll done lads and good luck to Dolci for the rest of the season.
