The Colts clinched second place in the League tonight following a good display against Wingerworth JSA Hawks.
For the first 20 minutes, the match was so one sided. The Colts attacking at every opportunity forcing a number of corners and scoring five goals. The first was converted by Hunt, who produced his best display this season. Hardy whipped in a cross from the left, towards the three forwards waiting in the box. Hunt rose in the air like a salmon and headed the ball past the stranded keeper. The second came again from a Hardy cross, Hamisi deftly nodding the ball past the keeper.
Hunt scooped in the third, following in from a shot, which the keeper spilled.
Vardy hit the fourth and fifth goals with strikes from the edge of the box, following good work on the wing by Lowe.
At this point, the Colts were comfortable. The back four had dealt with everything coming towards them and Bate had been untroubled. However, Wingerworth started their comeback. Three high looping shots went over the despairing Bate, dropping into the net. There was just enough time left for Booth to force the ball home in a goalmouth scramble, giving the half time score 6-3.
Despite the Colts dominating the second half as well, they could only manage two further goals. Hunt completed his hat trick with a screamer from outside the box. Hamisi added the eighth from the penalty spot after Hardy had been tripped in the area.
Wingerworth grabbed two further goals, one a bouncing ball that bounced right past Bate, the other another looping effort from a free kick. The Colts had other chances to score but luck was not with them.
The Colts finished second in the league with three games to go. Well done lads, quality and hard work is always rewarded.
