Away league match played on 14 January 2013.
Kicked off at 7:00 PM

The last league game of the season for The Senseless saw the team in bouyant mood determined to turn things round at long last. The fact that there was no dedicated keeper really wasn't going to help matters, but no small thing like that was going to dampen the spirits. A new record attendance of 3 people made for an unbelievable atmosphere at Este Road and I'm not sure the ground had heard such noise. Thanks as always to Sheeps for his unswerving support come rain or shine and in this instance To Mrs Gibbs and Sarah.

The game started brightly for both sides with efforts being saved by the Shark Bait keeper and the Senseless 1st stand in Terry Caulfield. Then CALAMITY!!! Terry, being the confident fella he is, casually attempted to collect a stray pass from a Shark Bait player, and in doing so let the ball trickle (and i do mean trickle) through his fleece gloved hands and into the goal behind him. I mean seriously, i don't think it had the pace to touch the net despite being downhill!!!!! It was tough not to laugh but when the lads had been through the previous 6 weeks results it summed things up really. However...

With Terry still muttering under his breath in pure Muttley fashion the outfield players set about the task of righting such a wrong doing and soon managed the unthinkable and actually equalised!! Chris Gibbs found himself free on the left side of the field and advanced before smashing a right footed rocket that Roy Race (look him up youngsters) would have been proud of into the far corner beyond the hapless keeper. Smiles from everyone involved made Terry feel better for his Booby Mimms/Massimo Taibi moment.

It wasn't to last too long though as Shark Bait soon took the lead again with nothing anyone could do to prevent it. A change in Keeper followed with Neal Cutler sacrificing his forward position to take the gloves for the senseless. Unfortunately a smart finish for Shark Bait made it 1-3 but heads were not dropping in this match. A couple of Bait efforts were dealt with by the new keeper and Neal looked to actually be enjoying the time between the sticks. Before half time a penalty was awarded by the ref in favour of The Senseless with a Bait player entering the area. Mike Gibbs confidently stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and pull one back. Such was the easy nature to his penalty it was like watching David Ginola run his fingers through his hair in a TV ad. Just as well it wasn't Mike doing the same thing as with his busy weave fingers may well have been lost forever!!!

Half time was called and and the mood was distinctly upbeat in The Senseless ranks. A rousing speech from Chris Gibbs was as usual ignored by everyone except Sheeps who looked positively full with enthusiasm to be a better ball boy!

And so to the 2nd half. It started brightly for The Senseless,  with efforts crashing back off the goal frame to safety and The Bait keeper making some outstanding saves to keep his team ahead. At the other end Neal was proving possibly a new Peter Schmeichal in goal, saving all shots blasted his way ( to be fair with his size at the moment, there wasn't a lot of goal left to see for the Bait players) and with Terry 'hands like a flid' Caulfield and Paul Croucher looking more assured at the back it looked good. Mid way through the half a well worked move saw Jay Jay (one off appearance so far) thrash an effort into the bottom corner and with huge cheers and screams of delight The Senseless were level and on the hunt for a winner! It wasn't to arrive unfortunately despite going so close on a number of occasions it just wouldn't go in for the lads and a great draw was played out til the final whistle.

Anew record attendance and a new found vigor looks to hold The Senseless in Good stead for the play offs.
