Team line up: Katie, Holly, Titch, Chelsea, Jordan, Emma, Lucy (C), Caitlin and Alisha. Subs: Grace & Bonnie
This morning we traveled over to Broadstone for a 9v9 friendly. After losing a few players due to injuries and unavailability we had quite a few changes in our line up. It was wet and the goal mouths were boggy, but we started strong, playing the ball well through and up the pitch. Had a few chances on goal from Alisha which didn’t find the net, and they had one shot on goal which was saved by Katie. Unfortunately their was then a bundle of players in our box and Katie came off injured and they managed to roll the ball into our goal. ?? Katie ?? Bonnie. Luckily we had Chelsea there who stepped up into goal and Bonnie came on to start her debut game. We continued playing strong, playing balls through to Alisha and Caitlin who were both making the right runs. One of these runs led to Alisha being taken out by their keeper. We were awarded the penalty but no card for the opposition. Great strike from Alisha, sadly saved by the keeper. Shortly after we had another tussle on the edge of the box and were awarded a free kick but in those small 9 aside goals it just skimmed the cross bar. We were strong defensively, working hard and getting back, with a long shot being saved with a cracking dive from Chelsea. Just before half time they did manage to catch us on the break to score their second.
HT 2-0
Half time subs ?? Holly ?? Grace. After a positive half time talk, everyone knew what was required of them and we went out fighting. They had KO, which was quickly shut down by our players pressing them. The ball went out for a goal kick, and an amazing kick from Chelsea landed straight on Alisha, who took it forward and hit the net! Straight in reaction to that we then went on to win the ball shortly after their KO, and Jordan dribbled it down the wing beating several of their players, crossing it straight into Caitlin who hit it with confidence to make it 2-2. Play continued with a few more attacks from both midfield and strikers, then Broadstone hit us on the counter attack, and sadly their striker was just ahead and beat us on pace for a 1 on 1 with the keeper and scored. We kept positive though with everyone working back to defend, Grace and Bonnie winning some great balls and playing it forward. Then Emma played a ball through to Alisha, who laid it across to Caitlin. This led to Caitlin being taken out by the keeper, and a free kick being awarded. Caitlin stepped up, but unfortunately again it just went over the top. Broadstone then reacted with a goal. We knew we had to keep working hard as the game was far from over! Quicker than we could say it, Jordan made a great run into the box, hit the ball towards goal which was deflected in over the keeper. Sadly the keeper then kicked the ball out and ref didn’t award the goal... Final subs ?? Grace ?? Holly. However, we didn’t stop there and shortly after Chelsea did another of her great kicks, this time hitting Caitlin who turned and ended it with a great finish. With about 5 mins to go we had a corner, Jordan took it and it landed straight with Lucy who kept fighting to get the shot away but sadly it was blocked.
FT 4-3
Alisha ?? Caitlin ???? Chelsea ?????? Jordan ???
Well done to Bonnie on her debut game, great to have you on board! Only way I could have been happier coming away from that game was if we got the win. Everyone worked hard for one another, and played GREAT FOOTBALL????
Thankyou to Broadstone for hosting the friendly and we will see you again next week!
