Away cup match played on 21 September 2014.
Kicked off at 11:00 AM

Following last weeks events, Second West were keen to move on quickly but few people who were shocked with an unexpected inclusion in the starting line up.

In a bid to increase the teams fire power, Mark Mcnutly was included in the side and pair upfront with abdi.

With so much emphasis being placed on the defensive side of the team, Alan Brown was replaced at centre back by Sam Waddlington.

The changes saw The West boasting a some sort of a strong bench for the first time this season with the likes of Anton Malcolme, Matthew Farrar and Alan Brown all chomping at the bit to take to the field.

In recent weeks, The West have struggled to get in to the game from the start, but with the line up today the boys out there wanted to show Rob what they can do, West made a few attacking opinons but on the counter attack down the right hand side Steel Bangle played a few lovely passers and Steven Wright was cought out at the back for Steel to get there first goal with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Play was stop due to a head injury and this promtied West to reshape and get there heads back in to the game, Sam Waddlington made a great start tohis first game but sadly came off injured and was replaced by Alan Brown. Steel Bange could have been two nil up with in 25mins but a goalline clearance from Alan made sure that wasn't gonna happen.

The West continued with their ‘never say die’ attitude but Steel were keen to take get antother goal and their persistence in the box saw the ball bumbled over the line after a goal mouth scramble.

Half time and the Score was 2-0 but the mighty West didnt give in, chance after chance they had but couldnt score and 60mins in to the game the back four had to be reshaped with Mark Lee going in net due to Paul Carrol having to come off, Never the less the west still continued to attactk.

A late injury to Steven Briggs meant that he could play no part in the fixture. His departure from the field took with it much of the impetus that The West had built up and it was difficult to see how they would continue to press forward. Despite this, they did persevere and did create more chances though they failed to convert.

The match ended 4-0 to Steel but the West took heart from a spirited performance which even left the Steel squad wondering why the West are not winning more games.

The trick now is to continue that spirited mindset ahead of the home clash against Lyceum FC in the league this week.
