Eastfield Sports 12 - 2 Scarborough Sports F.C
Eastway Sports, Eastfield
16th September 2012
Scarborough Sports under 13’s are a newly formed team with many of the players playing competitively for the first time this season. Scarborough Sports kicked off the season against Eastfield Sports, a strong opposition. Eastfield Sports were crowned league champions the previous season and this became apparent with a 12-2 defeat. In Scarborough Sports’ defence only a bare 11 players were available for the game meaning there were no fresh legs to be substituted. Despite the score line Scarborough Sports battled hard with every player giving 100%.
The first goal for Scarborough Sports came from Bradley Holsworth who latched onto a neat through ball, slotting the ball away calmly into the bottom corner. In the final few minutes Scarborough Sports’ attack forced a corner. The ball was crossed into a dangerous area in the 18 yard box where one of the Eastfield Sports players handled the ball. There was much deliberation between the Scarborough Sports players about who was going to take the penalty. Eventually they all decided Henry Kelly should take it, and take it he did. Kelly drilled the ball to the right of the keeper, even though the keeper dived the right way the ball had already gone past.
History was set and this was the foundation in which Scarborough Sports are going to build on. All Scarborough Sports players can be very pleased with their contribution in this game and should take this into their next game against FC Seamer.
