Kicked off at 9:00 AM

In a disappointing cup away match at Wallace High School on 2nd November 2024, Sauchie Juniors faced a daunting challenge against Bannockburn, who emerged victorious with a staggering scoreline of 8-0. The match kicked off at 9:00 am, and it quickly became evident that the Juniors were in for a tough morning.

Sauchie Juniors lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, with Jamie Mitchell in goal, flanked by a defensive line comprising Kacper Serafin and Evan Harrison as right and left defenders, respectively, while Oliver Wilson and Rory Frame occupied the central defensive roles. In midfield, Wiktor Zylowski and Jensen Obonyano operated on the right and left flanks, with Findlay Russell and Kier Hutchinson anchoring the central midfield. Up front, Jacob McQuillan and Lucas Stone were tasked with leading the attack as right and left forwards.

The substitutes for Sauchie Juniors included Kornel Baczynski, Kaden Dunnachie, Olly Moore, and Dylan Dalrymple, who would later be called upon as the match progressed.

The match began with an early attempt from Findlay Russell in the second minute, but his effort was saved by the Bannockburn goalkeeper. Jamie Mitchell, the Sauchie goalkeeper, was quick to respond, catching a cross just moments later. Evan Harrison showcased his defensive prowess with a long pass that created a chance for his team in the fourth minute, followed by Kacper Serafin's clearance in the fifth minute, preventing a potential threat from the opposition.

As the game unfolded, it became clear that Bannockburn were the dominant force. In the 16th minute, they opened the scoring through a goalmouth scramble, followed by another strike from long range just six minutes later. Jamie Mitchell was kept busy, diving at the feet of attackers and making crucial saves, but the relentless pressure from Bannockburn proved too much.

In a tactical reshuffle, Sauchie Juniors made their first substitution in the 26th minute, bringing on Kornel Baczynski for Wiktor Zylowski. However, the changes did little to stem the tide, as Bannockburn scored again in the 29th minute, extending their lead further.

As the first half drew to a close, Sauchie Juniors found themselves trailing significantly. The half-time whistle blew with the score at 3-0, and the team regrouped in hopes of a better second half.

The second half began with a flurry of activity. Jamie Mitchell's replacement, Dylan Dalrymple, was called into action immediately, catching a cross in the 42nd minute. However, Bannockburn quickly resumed their scoring spree, netting their fourth goal just eight minutes into the half.

Sauchie Juniors continued to make substitutions in an attempt to regain control, with Kaden Dunnachie coming off for Oliver Wilson due to injury in the 63rd minute. Yet, Bannockburn's relentless attack saw them score again in the 67th minute, bringing the score to an astonishing 8-0.

Despite the heavy defeat, Kacper Serafin stood out as a player of the match, demonstrating resilience and determination throughout the encounter. The final whistle confirmed a disheartening day for Sauchie Juniors, who will need to regroup and reflect on their performance as they look ahead to future challenges.
