With 10 players away and after clawing our way back into the game from 2-0 down to get back to 2-2 only for us to then concede a goal in the 93rd minute was a crushing blow to then lose the game 3-2 when we were 20 seconds away from gaining a valuable point.
David Fort had the first big chance of the game for Brandon but Potts did well to stay big and save his shot with his feet.
The start of the game was quite even but then on 25 minutes the constant threat from Lee Blades down the Brandon right hand side brought about the first goal of the game. His low cross was drilled across the 6 yard box where Michael Quinn in the Sacriston 6 yard box intercepted it but could only slide his attempted clearance into his own net.
Things got worse at the start of the 2nd half when another cross came in from the left hand side this time and Steven Parnaby ghosted in at the back post between the 2 Sacriston centre halves and finished clinically from 6 yards out.
The introduction of Matty Rudge for James Thornton in midfield injected some life into the Sacriston team and we rallied well and decided to take the game to Brandon who by this time had seemed to settle on their 2 goal advantage.
We won a free kick on the left hand side for handball on 60 minutes from where Graeme Embleton put a wicked ball in towards the back post where the ball went into the far corner of the net without a touch from anybody. It was an impossible ball to defend.
Then after a sustained spell of pressure Sacriston drew level on 78 minutes. A long ball over the top caused confusion in the Brandon defence and Anthony Ward judged the bounce best and he collected the ball before passing it to his strike partner Greg Coates who let fly with a stunning volley from 25 yards out which flew straight into the top right hand corner of the net to make it 2-2.
Sacriston for the next few minutes pushed on looking for the winner but no goal came. Then Brandon started to play much better in the last 5 minutes. In the 93rd minute Brandon got a free kick which Sacriston managed to clear out the box initially but the ball kept coming back in and then at the fourth attempt at a cross Lawson of Brandon rose tallest to head home into the far corner which looked to loop into the net seemingly in slow motion.
Sacriston still had just enough time to make one last run at Brandon with Coates & Ward having shots well blocked which looked goal bound and shortly afterwards the final whistle was blown as Brandon ran out 3-2 winners. It was really tough to take on a depleted Sacriston side that had battled so hard to get back in the game but that is football at this level sometimes and now we have to make sure we do all we can to beat East Rainton at Segga on Thursday night.
