So the ten men started the game in a positive mood, and to their surprise where the much better side. For the first 20 minutes the lads were passing the ball very well creating a few chances. Then a bobble in the pitch eluded the Robin defence to present Mapperly their 1st chance which they took to go 1-0 up. Robin Rattled and carried on where they had started. Best football they had played. Then there was another long ball not dealt with gifted there striker another chance to make it 2-0.Another long ball high up in the air not dealt with by the Robin left back let the Mapperly boys in to make it 3-0.3 chances 3 goals. A good run by James Worthington who then got brought down left a free kick from 20 yards. Scott Allen stepped up to bend it over the wall & into the top corner to make it 3-1.life line?
2nd half started and just before half time Matthew Wood got injured and had to go in net with half a leg, he was struggling but for the team did his bit. So with 9 ½ men Robin set out to try and crawl this result back. It took Robin 20 minutes to get going but during that time they had conceded two more goals from long ball again.so trailing 5-1 it was all over, left to play for was pride. The boys rattled and a corner from Garry Millar came over to James Allen who took two swings at it causing the keeper to save for only Scott Allen to claim his second goal of the game. A good break up in the midfield by Garry Millar who played a great ball behind the ba ck line for Grant Gregory to pounce on and finish with a delightful lob over the keeper to make it 5-3. As tired legs started to kick in it was too much for Robin to pull it back and Mapperly finished off a good counter attack move to finish the game 6-3. Take the positives from the result 9 ½ men played very well against a poor side and shows that 11 against 11 a different result would have been on the cards. Well done to the lads who was there today!
