Away league match played on 21 September 2013.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

So we headed for Spennithorne and Harmby on another warm Saturday afternoon with a full squad and 3 cars filled to the gunnels with players and supporters.

Having reached the ground in good time the no show of last week’s MOM Ryan Howe seemed to have an effect on the team and after the warm up we started very quietly.

Passes going astray we huffed and puffed before eventually getting into the game with Allison, Farrell and Paterson causing problems but no clear cut chances to write home about.

Spennithorne had offered little and our  passing game was just starting to come together when  we lost possession “not for the first time this season “ in our own half and the opposition broke quickly, the ensuing cross ,that came in eventually at the third time of asking was dispatched from close range by the tricky home midfielder Barry Harker.

1-0!!!!!

Peck continued to produce some fine saves as previous weeks and after some clumsy challenges by Conway and Love we were lucky to still have 11 on the field as on another day both were sending off offences  “depending were you were stood “ luckily for us the referee showed yellows on both occasions.

Half Time 1-0

With debutant Oscar Scarr feeling the pace Kier Mackie came on for his Town debut at right back.

After a poor first half the team talk at the interval seemed to have had the right effect.

Suddenly we had a spring in our step and upped the tempo, but again with Farrell creating and Allison’s nonstop running, we still hadn’t created a clear cut chance.

For some reason Spennithorne had decamped into their own half and for long spells Town dominated possession to no avail.

As in the previous three games we once again created our own downfall a poor throw out by the keeper ,Mackie lost the ball and the speedy James Stanger (MOM) nipped in and slotted past Peck .

Sixty Five minutes gone 2-0!!!! to Spennithorne

Time to go for it again Davidson on for Job and Slinger for Conway

Town went 4-2-4 for the second week running.

To his credit Peck made some more fine saves to keep Town in the game and on  80 minutes, after some good movement were present with a free kick just outside the box .

Up stepped Graham Love 2-1!!!!!  lovely strike “although not much movement from the home keeper!!!!”

Town sensed a draw and continued to press but on 85 minutes a hopeful clearance up field by the home team was not dealt with again by Knox and Barker and the home centre midfielderJoseph Dickens simply ran through to slot past Peck.

As the game petered out a clash on the far side saw Josh Allison given a straight Red Card for what seemed something or nothing hopefully a lesson learned as suspensions is something we can do without.

 Full Time 3-1

Managers MOM – Josh Farrell

Oppositions MOM – Dan Peck

Probably a bit harsh on the lads again who cannot be faulted for effort but “goals win games” so its four losses on the bounce, but it’s a long season and if we continue with the right attitude we will get that elusive first win!!!

Well done to Spennithorne who remain unbeaten.
