Sometimes you have to stand back and admire the passion, the play, the desire and the work ethic of those on the pitch.

Other times you have to applaud the manager for the tactics, the inside knowledge and the set up.

Personally, I think last night’s win was a result of pure tactical genius! In all honesty the lads deserve huge credit for their performance last night. They truly old-manned the opposition, the game management was spot on and the team took their chances. Add to that it was easily Myers’ best game since back from the broken leg and things are really looking good at the moment.

It was a cagey first 10, but one that I would say The Revs edged. They had the better of the chances but there was always a danger from their quick front two that a counter attack was on the cards.

However, we needn’t have worried as Steane and Evans Jnr were patrolling the back, blocking, tackling and hounding to perfection. And on the rare occasions they did break through, Myers was impossible to get past. One save of note was tipping a vicious shot onto the post to deny what would have been a great goal.

Unfortunately The Revs didn’t have it all their own way when Hartrick turned and somehow popped his shoulder out after 12 minutes and could not continue. We hope it doesn’t mean he’s out as long as he was last time!

The lads on the pitch didn’t let it affect them, in fact it spurred them on a little more. Steane getting down the wing and whipping in a ball for Dave P to get in front of his man and slide in the opener under the keeper.

Doca came back at The Revs though and could have had two penalties had the ref been a bit braver. First Steane slid in taking the man out, clearly in the area but the ref gave a free kick on the edge instead. Later in the game Myers wound up his left to clear the ball but instead booted the attacker up into the air instead. The ref looked hard, but waved play on.

Sometimes you need that bit of luck.

Midway through the second half The Revs got their rewards for brave play. Myers pinging a ball out wide to Tyman who, under pressure, lobbed a ball over to the far side of the area to Dave P who hit a first time shot on the half volley to double his tally as well as the teams. A lovely goal indeed.

Doca piled on a bit of pressure but big hits from Lewis in the middle made them think twice about heading his way and Beardall put in a shift tracking back even though he had picked up a slight injury in the first half – apparently he was about to come off as Hartrick retired, I am not sure I believe this as he does not like being subbed!

There was still time for Steane to mug off the opposition and buy a free kick in the top corner that served to irritate the opposition further and a few minutes later they had a lad sinbinned for some choice words towards the ref.

Everything was coming up Revs!!

Doca, to their credit had a few chances late on with a man light, but The Revs saw out the game – game management you see!

And so The Revs made it three wins on the bounce and move into the top half of the table! Just gotta keep it going now!
