Second game of the season ends in a 2-2 draw at skewen parc.
With lessons surely leanrned from last week, the boys got stuck in from the start putting early pressure on the home teams defence. Despite the early pressue it was Harp that scored first when a stray cross slipped through the hands of Connell and trickled into the net. 1-0 to Harp. Pressure continued to mount on the home defence with a number of braeking runs from midfield. However it was the clever movement of Edward Morgan inside the box that shuld have brought a penalty when he was hacked down on 2 occasions but play on was the call from the ref. A break finally came when Rhys Stroud went on another weaving run down the left, working his way to the byline and cutting into the box only to be sent tumbling by the right back. PENALTY awarded. Up steps Eddie, striking the ball low and soft amd straight to the diving keeper. Still 1-0. Chance after chance seemed to go begging in this impresseive 1st half team performance.
Half time 1-0
The 2nd half started much like the first with some good attkiing pressure. The pressure seemed to subside early on though and the momentum shifted towards the home team as they started to mount a number of good chances, calling on the defencsive attributes of the back 4. the boys seemed to be capable of dealing with anything that was thrown at them. After weathering the storm we worked the ball down the left and played the ball forward to eddie in the centre who carried the ball 20 yrds and sent the ball to Lewis on the right who took the ball into the box and finshed the move with a beautiful shot across the keeper and into the net. Lovely move, lovely finish. Mid way throught the 2nd half and things Harp began to apply pressure agian forcing a defensive miss kick from the Resolven right back, seeing the ball bounce on the penalty spot and with no one taking charge of the situation Harp riffled the ball straight down the middle of the goal. 2-1.
Minutes late saw the end of Dominics afternoon as he was subbed off due to a foot injury. On came the 2nd fastest man in the club 'Bish'. Shortly after saw the introduction of last weeks goal scorer, Sean Daives for the tired Leigton Sims (who played 60 mins with a broken bone in his foot but has said he doesn't want to be called a hero). More of the same followed, Kieron breaking lines from midfield, missed chances and another blatant penalty denied for handball. Wouldn't have scored it anyway. Most of the penetration apperared to come from the right hand side where Seb, Lewis and Eddie linked up well in this 2nd half. It was real end to end stuff towards the end with both defences working hard but the break through came when Eddie chased down the defender towards on on coming keeper and what can only be described as an assault on the defender seen him smashing the keeper leaving Edward to cheekily chip the ball into the net. 2-2 and nobody can believe it. 90th minute equaliser. 10 mins later the ref blew up with nothing else really to write about.
Man of the match this week goes to Lewis Jenkins for an excellet all round performance topped off with a well taken goal.
I've been asked to either give either a mention to the special Seb or a special mention to Seb who played a blinder at left back, not putting a foot wrong.
This weeks Minge will come as no surprise. For his club record misses for one match this weeks Minge is awarded to Eddie Morgan with Leighton Sims a close second for his innability to head the ball straight
