In a one-sided friendly match held at Lutheran Field on 7th February 2025, Macito FC showcased their dominance over Pluto FC, securing a resounding 6-0 victory. The match kicked off at 3:00 PM, with Coach Man Made officiating the proceedings in front of a modest crowd of 40 spectators.
Pluto FC lined up in a 4-1-2-3 formation, aiming to establish a solid defensive base while looking to exploit the flanks through their attacking midfielders. Etinyene Anthony took his position in goal, shielded by a back four comprising Goodluck Essien on the right, Meaningful Nsa and Uyikke Okon in central defence, and Promise Ediette on the left. Samuel Udofia played as the lone central midfielder, tasked with linking defence and attack. The attacking trio featured Daniel Esema and Samuel Adiakpan on the right and left flanks respectively, while Goodluck Archibong led the line as the central striker, flanked by Abasiodiong Okuku and Prosper Paulinus in the forward positions. The substitutes for the match were Abasiofon Okuku and Godwill Victor.
The match began with a swift strike from Macito FC, who opened the scoring just two minutes in with a stunning direct free-kick that left Anthony with no chance. This early setback set the tone for the remainder of the first half, as Pluto FC struggled to find their rhythm against a well-organised opposition.
As the first half progressed, Pluto FC's attempts to regroup were thwarted by Macito FC's relentless pressure. Just before the half-time whistle, Macito FC capitalised on a defensive error, doubling their lead with a right-footed shot from outside the box that found the back of the net, leaving Pluto FC trailing 2-0 at the break.
The second half commenced with Pluto FC hoping to mount a comeback, but their hopes were dashed quickly. In the 53rd minute, Macito FC struck again, this time with a diving header from close range, extending their lead to three goals. In response to the mounting pressure, Pluto FC made a tactical substitution, bringing on Abasiofon Okuku for Samuel Udofia in an attempt to bolster their midfield.
However, the substitutions did little to stem the tide, as Macito FC continued to dominate. In the 72nd minute, another diving header from the opposition added a fourth goal to their tally, leaving Pluto FC in disarray. The frustration began to show for Pluto FC, culminating in Goodluck Essien receiving a yellow card for dissent shortly after.
With the match nearing its conclusion, Macito FC added a fifth goal in the 77th minute, courtesy of a simple tap-in from close range, further emphasising their superiority on the day. Despite the scoreline, Pluto FC's goalkeeper Etinyene Anthony was a standout performer, making several crucial saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.
The match concluded with Macito FC firmly in control, leaving Pluto FC to reflect on a disappointing performance. The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 6-0 victory for Macito FC, a result that highlighted the vast difference in quality between the two sides on the day.
