Could we continue the form and effort from last week was the question ?
Oh yes we could was the answer, as Garside smashed six of the nine goals to claim a comfortable victory, and grab a deserved Man of the match award.
With a gale force wind behind us, the pressure paid off early doors as a superb Longstaff slide rule pass put in Garside for an awesome team move. Let the flood gates open.
The second came on 16 minutes as Garsdie rammed home a great solo goal after leaving 3 Thornley defenders in his wake.
Thornley pulled one back not long after, after a corner failed to be cleared and the ball was tapped into an empty net.
The 3rd came not long after as The Bull were awarded a panalty, which Garside stroked him for his and the Bulls' 3rd goal of the game.
Just as we started to look comfortable Thornley rallied and were awarded a stonewaller as Dean Black felled the advancing Harry's bar forward. The kick was initially saved by Levett, but the Harry's Bar lads were quickest to the Ball and slotted it home. 4-2.
Time for the troops to rally and regain our two goal lead. Garside answered the call with a great solo goal, beating two or 3 defenders and slotting home from 15 yards. 3-1. We swiftly moved on and Garside notched his 4th goal in 25 minutes.
Half time 4-2.
We were now against the wind and needed to get the ball down and pass it on the deck. It took a while for us to get to grips with the wind despite a goal after 5 minutes of the restart. Peace slotting in Cook for his 3rd of the season.
At 5-2 though we were given a scare as a Thornley penalty was saved by Levett, and the subsequent follow up was met by a Bull player first this time.
Now we were starting to play football again. This time it was Paul Wintrip's turn to get on the scoresheet. Peace put in a speculative cross that was spilled by the Harrys Bar keeper, and poacher Wintrip did the rest, smashing it home.
The 7th came soon after as Peace, again the provider found Garside. Like in the first half he cruised past the hapless defence before crashing home his 5th of the game.
The Bull then made two subs, probably a bit too late in the game to be fair, as they should of been on a lot earlier.
It never interrupted our slick football though as Garside helped hiomself to his 6th of the game, with yet another great solo goal. 8-3 10 minutes to go.
It was left to the improving Cook to grab our 9th and his 4th of the season, late on. Cook now settling into his new club and looking very accomplised.
Final score 9-3
Yet another good team effort. Despite a couple of lads playing out of position we looked comfortable.
Special mention goes, obviously to Man of the Maach Karl Garside. To score 6 in any game at any level deserves the plaudits - WELL DONE !!
I also must mention that depsite having to slot in at centre half yet again, Dean Black has shown great professionalism and got on with the job in hand. Well done, we will have you out of there very soon mate.
Finally a farewell and good luck message to Ben Roche, who has returned to Horden Rugby Club. Ben has been my longest serving player uptil today. I personally wish him well, as he has been reliable and always gave 100% for me and the Bull. Good luck mate.
