It was a game that showed much improvement from the team and a game where every single player gave 100%. It was also a game of new records for the club with the title of 'most goals scored by the team in one game' and also 'most goals scored by a single player in one game'.
OH started the game on the back foot as we tried to get a foothold in the game. Lucky enough the OH held firm over a difficult 15 minutes of pressure. The breakthrough for OH came around the 20 minute mark when a Buntingford goal kick was not dealt with properly. The ball eventually falling to Paul Jowitt who rounded the full back, got to the by-line and sent in a low cross for Mark Cutbush to prod in from close range. A great start! OH 1 - BWR 0.
The lead was then doubled a few moments later when a long ball was sent over the top of the Buntingford defence. A weak header back to the goal keeper was pounced upon by Paul Jowitt who slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. OH 1 - BWR 0.
About 10 minutes later long ball forward found Robert Christian who headed a lovely looping ball into the far corner of the net. OH 3 - BWR 0. Some very clinical finishing infront of goal being the main difference from past weeks.
Half time came and it was safe to say that OH were quite rightly over joyed. Some great passing being made and the back line looking rock solid.
The second half kicked off and it wasn't long before OH had their forth. Paul Jowitt gambling on a long kick from the goal keeper was sent through one on one with the Buntingford Keeper to cooly slot home from just inside the penalty box. OH 4 - BWR 0.
Mark Cuitbush added a stylish fifth after a mazy run through the defence, then taking it round the keeper to slot home. The nickname 'crazy legs' was certainly apt for this particular goal. OH 5 - 0 BWR.
Buntingford grabbed a goal back a few moments later after a misplaced pass put the Buntingford forward through one on one with the keeper. OH 5 - 1 BWR. A very preventable goal caused by a few people switching off.
OH then extended their lead even further after another long kick from goalkeeper Jim Reeves sent Paul Jowitt through again, this time for him to loop the ball over the keeper into the far corner. That completed his hat-trick. OH 6 - 1 BWR.
The icing on the cake for OH came just around the 80 minute mark when a nice move from Richard Game down the left ended up with a pass to Paul Jowitt who found himself outside the penalty box with enough time to take a touch and send a ferocious shot past the Buntingford keeper. OH 7 - BWR 1.
There was still enough time for Buntingford to pull another consolation goal back after some miscommunication between the defence and goalkeeper. This made sure that the game finished OH 7 - 2 BWR.
A fantastic performance from all involved today, very pleasing to see after a run of bad results. Hopefully we can build on this and continue to play the way we showed today. Up next will be a very difficult fixture against current high flyers Ware Lions Reserves.
