Perennial front-runners Buttershaw White Star have assumed their customary position at the Premier Division summit after opening with two convincing Bradford Sunday Alliance League wins.
Steve Hollingworth helped himself to four of the goals as White Star brushed aside Wyke Wanderers 6-0.
It was only 1-0 at the interval before the hosts stepped up a gear, with Graeme Sides and Dan Cunningham adding to Hollingworth’s efforts.
Defending champions West Bowling have also started with two wins, opening with a 5-1 verdict against Dudley Hill on Thursday – new 18-year-old signing Jamie Hall among the scorers – before adding a 2-0 win at Bolton Woods thanks to Phil Brogan’s double.
Peel Park secured their first top-flight victory after edging a five-goal thriller at home to fellow promoted side George Hotel.
Adam Turner cancelled out Hotel’s opener just before the interval and although the visitors took the lead again, further strikes by 42-year-old former Real Zaragoza youth team player Santiago Contreras and Matthew Hannan enabled Park to take the points.
In Division One, Lane Ends recorded their second win by an odd goal as they beat visiting Thornbury Celtic 3-2 courtesy of Tom Dolan, Dean Walters and Dale Howard.
