At last Cup final day was here!!!!! Would the flex show how good they've been! at the right time!!! Many tests already this season victory over ampro took the flex to new levels of confidence....victory in the cup Was an absolute MUST!!!! Flex vs Formby dons.....here we go!!
The day started with the flex being rather punctual indeed 80% of players arriving at haig ave at 5 ready to go much to the delight of the management team...Nerves turned to excitement, excitement turned to determination...as every player had that certain look in the eyes....we decided to stick with the team and tactics that worked so well against ampro and play 433....
It couldn't have started any better as the flex pressed immediately forcing a throw in deep into dons half.....Joe c took a long throw and Tom b comin in from the left flicked the ball on...the keeper stretching couldn't keep his hands on it....and boom!!! By the grace of the footballing gods it fell to Davy who wrapped his leg round a defender to fire it home!!! 1-0 flex....
Dons rallied and had some good possession but never threatened our goal with the amaculate back four and warbo building an impenetrable wall!!! Soon flex started to counter attack...a few chances went begging none more so then when greeny hit the post after a through ball from Davy and a well hit shot....it bounced out to the dons defence...tackles fly in from every flex player, forwards and midfielders running the length of the pitch to help team mates out...a togetherness that was truly unstoppable....then came the killer blow for dons....on around 40mins good movement and delivery from the left caused big problems for the dons defence as they only half clear it....as the ball rolls towards tom b you could hear the intake of breath as every flex player,subs and mangers begged tom to hit it sweet!!!!....................Bang!!!! Like Gerrards goal vs the Greeks at anfield in 2005.....What A hit son!!!! Bazzer(dons keeper) had no chance!!!!! Flex 2 dons 0...cue the dons pressure you would think but no half time came with ease we were half way there!..

The team talk at half time was simple just keep doing!!! More of the same..a little bit of calm was call for by warbo who sensed where weren't takin a break...so a moment of calm took place well for a minute anyway...the roars went round again COME on the mighty!!! We want it more!!!!!
2nd half and No changes made at half time. but soon enough the work rate would start to take its toll...free kicks and very few corners where all Formby could go off as they really couldn't penetrate the flex defence...the flex's game plan was uted to perfection solid and swift on the counter!! Just see the game out an victory was ours....a few verbal victories took place as dons started to lose there heads...the dons right back came off in a huff after being booked for decent...a good decision as he surley was about to see red....much to the amusement of the flex bench....I quote... (your a chest you lad!!!) Great shout jimbo haha....foley came off for adie as he'd left his calf's in the changies at half time..haha a solid and hard working performance with a worthy replacement...adie settled str8 in and we started to attack and go for the throat..
The final nail in dons coffin came on about 70mins a long goal kick won in the air by Tom b fell perfectly for Davy as two dons players got in each others way and made a mess of any chance to clear....but as it reached Davy the path to goal was as clear as an airport runway and with a first time pass he put Thomas Astles one on one with the keeper....Thomas timing his own run to perfection coming in from the right.. stayed ice cold and megged the keeper as he rushed towards him a fine finish from the 17 year old flex 3 dons 0..the crowd, players ,and management alike celebrated knowing we'd done it!!!!

All of which played there part in staying solid And instantly thrashing out a relentless work rate....
One save from warbo towards the end kept the score line at 3-0 a blemish to the clean sheet would have been a nasty cut to take as the whole team deserved a clean sheet...well in warbo!!!!! Lad was the cry!!!!!! The final whistle was approaching the emotions started to reveal themselves as the relief and joyfulness filled the ground...full time and the flex have won the cup !!!!!!!!

Tom b....skipper, proper technician, huge influence on each an every game...especially this one what a goal
Greeny.....first class striker, pace,skill, and a work rate second to none. Created space for all unselfishly, an deserved a goal..
Thomas...skillfully played a massive part, fast,strong, decision making all correct...adding up to a man of the match performance...
Adie...quality, calm , and showed real courage you did Arthur proud lad...
Dan...another very good technician, unlucky to be on the bench as he's been superb all season. Worked hard and tried to get us playing..
Martin...quick and skillfull...could have got a goal towards the end..
Dylan...another who was so unlucky not to start a great season also...came on in centre to put more steel in the middle...did a great job..
Jk...also coming in centrally to sure up the knackered midfield...a good impact and steady influence...
Speedy...what a guy stepping in as a physio. 5 games left for you to play a part...well done lad great attitude.
