In a thrilling friendly encounter held at Garlendale FC on 15 March 2025, the Meadowridge Falcons (u7) showcased their attacking prowess, defeating Garlendale FC U7 with a resounding scoreline of 9-2. The match kicked off at 9:30 am, and the Falcons demonstrated their dominance throughout the 30 minutes of play.
The Falcons lined up in a 1-1-3 formation, with Blake taking his position as goalkeeper. In front of him, Zeek as the only midfielder and the front line comprising of Usi in the centre, and Zac on the left and Jordan on the right. The formation allowed for a fluid transition between defence and attack, with the midfielder expected to support both the backline and the forwards effectively.
The substitutes for the match included Luke and Remi, who would later be called upon to make an impact as the game progressed.
The match began with an early attempt from Zeek in the third minute, but his effort sailed high over the bar, signalling the Falcons' intent. Just three minutes later, Usi opened the scoring in the sixth minute, finishing off a well-placed assist from Jordan to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Zeek continued to press forward, but his shot was saved shortly after Usi's goal, as the Falcons maintained their attacking momentum.
In the seventh minute, Usi struck again, this time with an assist from Zac, doubling the lead to 2-0. The Falcons were relentless, and Jordan added a third goal in the eighth minute, putting Garlendale FC under immense pressure.
As the match approached the 11th minute, the Falcons made their first substitutions, introducing Luke for Zeek and Remi for Zac, aiming to keep the energy levels high. Usi continued to shine, scoring his third goal in the 12th minute, assisted once again by Jordan, extending the lead to 4-0.
Luke made a defensive contribution in the 15th minute, showcasing his skills before Jordan was penalised for a handball shortly after. However, the Falcons' dominance was evident, and in the 16th minute, Zeek found the net with a stunning strike from outside the box, making it 5-0.
Garlendale FC responded quickly, scoring two goals in quick succession, first in the 16th minute and then again in the 17th minute, narrowing the deficit to 5-2. However, the Falcons were undeterred, and Blake scored in the 18th minute, assisted by Usi, restoring the four-goal cushion.
The Falcons continued to press, with Luke and Usi both attempting to add to the scoreline, but their efforts were saved. Blake found the net again in the 21st minute, further extending the lead to 7-2.
In the 22nd minute, the Falcons made further substitutions, bringing Zac on for Jordan Jordan and Zeek for Blake. Jordan was involved in another foul for obstruction shortly after, but the Falcons were in control. Zeek then scored two quick goals in the same minute, showcasing his finishing ability and bringing the score to 9-2.
As the first half concluded, the Falcons had established a commanding lead, demonstrating their attacking flair and teamwork. The second and third phase would see them looking to maintain their advantage, but the first phase had already set the tone for a memorable victory.
Overall a fantastic day our for the Falcons with an all round performance as a team. Usi ultimately claimed player of the day for his work rate across the park, multiple assists, saves in goals and 3 well executed goals of his own.
