Away league match played on 03 September 2013.
Kicked off at 7:30 PM

Town went into this game on the back of picking up their first point of the season on Saturday. Any optimism was short lived though as again a number of key players were missing. Town were without Ross Proud, Captain Tom Silk, Scott Hardy, Santino Fasulo, Ryan Carrigan, Neil Pullen and had Sean Ramkissoon and Danny Lawlor only 50% fit.

Town took their time to get going as again different players tried to get used to each other’s games. Blaby settled first but for all their neat passing football they were limited to long range efforts that didn’t trouble Worrad in goal. Town played some neat football of their own but created nothing in the final third and S.Ramkissoon was clearly struggling in the middle of the park. Blaby broke the deadlock on 20 minutes when poor defending allowed Perkins to rise unchallenged from a corner to head home. There was little response from Town as Blaby took control and experienced players were being sorely missed. With 10 minutes it was 2 when a tame long range effort was spilled onto the post by Worrad allowing Hinson to tap in the rebound from close range. This seemed to spark Town into life and for the remaining 15 minutes of the half they dominated the game but again without troubling the Blaby keeper. HT B&W 2-0 LTFC.

Town’s management stressed the importance of concentration and tempo at half time and Town came out of the blocks flying. The front 3 didn’t give the Blaby backline a moment’s peace and the midfield 3 took control with some superb passing football. Blaby couldn’t handle it and after a perfect through ball to Jelly was cut out by a deliberate handball from the centre half he can consider himself lucky to remain on the pitch. From the resulting free kick Jelly struck it hard and low only for the keeper to spill it to the onrushing Mcdade to fire into the roof of the net. Town’s tails were up and were now in complete control and within 10 minutes were level when the best move of the game saw Jelly race clear on the left and his low cross was superbly finished off by Aubrey. Further chances fell to Aubrey, Smith and Jelly but Town couldn’t convert their chances and then fell to the sucker punch when a ball over the top saw Wheeler race clear and slot past the Worrad. Town continued to push and dominated the remainder of the game but couldn’t find the equaliser. It was a case of same old, same old for Town who had more than deserved something out of the game but again come away with nothing. Town now face a trip to Hathern on Saturday with several key players still missing and the injury crisis mounting. FT B&W 3-2 LTFC.
