The second game saw Launton far too strong for the opposition. The football played was superb and unlike the first game this time Launton took their chances. Josh Barrett picked up the man of the match award with 1 goal and 3 assists (and an own goal) in the match and it was he who played in Jude-Lucas Howells early in the first half. Jude hit his shot well but the keeper saved it and Riley Mortimer stayed cool and pounced to hit the bouncing ball into the net.
Josh Barrett played in Sam Davies for the second goal in a well worked move, and it’s rumoured Sam Davies is trying to claim the third too, when another of his well hit corners was met by a Stonesfield defender who turned it into his own net.
A fizzed in Stonesfield corner was missed by all and Josh Barrett was unable to prevent the ball bouncing off him into the goal. 3-1 at the break.
In the second half a quick corner from Jude Lucas-Howells to Josh Barrett allowed Josh to take a touch and fire the ball the home from an outside the box. Josh Barrett then assisted Riley Mortimer, who bagged his second of the day which capped off a brilliant performance from him.
Late into the match, Josh Barrett set up Jude Lucas-Howells who smashed home from outside the box.
It was quiet game for the defence, but Dan Sperrin, Tom Blake and Finley McLeese did well to shut out any potential attacks nice and early.
Well done boys, brilliant performance – a pleasure to watch.
