Lawns lost 2-1 to Roman Old Boys in another disappointing and frustrating game that saw the worst penalty decision ever which changed the game.
Romans nearly scored from kick off but Craig Middleton made a the save look easy after they cut through the middle. Lawns quickly settled into the game creating chances whilst remaining resolute in defence. With 25 gone Ben beat the offside trap and the keeper laying the ball off to Jack to slot home comfortable. 5 minutes later Lawns were disallowed a perfectly good goal after a very poor offside call from the home lino. Jack thought he had scored at the far post from a header from Matt. Craig was called into action with a Gordon banks type save tipping the ball over the top left corner of the cross bar.
To add insult injury with 2 minutes of the first half remaining Romans won a penalty after Lewis made one of the best tackles in the box to put the ball out for a corner. The ref saw it differently and gave a pen. Even their supporters disagreed but to no avail, the pen was scored. The second half saw 3 substitutions all to injury. Jack's hamstring only lasted an hour and come off as a precaution. Scott came on up front. Next was Calum off with very sore toe after being stood on. Chris O'Malley took his place as right back. Scott had only been on the pitch 5 minutes but was brought down and injured trying to force his way into their box. After some treatment on the sidelines he came back on but quickly came off unable to carry on,Chris Grenville came on the right wing, BenGreenough went into the center with Adam playing upfront. Lawns pushed on for the winner but Romans were creating the chances until 2 minutes before the end the scored their second and the winner. Exploiting some space down the right they broke in to the box and scored from a tight angle into the roof of the net. Lewis pushed up to force an equaliser but time ran out.
A great performance from all today which we deserved the win. A special thanks to Neil for dropping out the squad to make things so just leaving 3 subs.
MOM: A tough one this week as everyone played so well, this week it goes to Matt for his tireless work rate in defence and attack creating chances down the left.
