SBYL under 12 first division
Sat 16th February 2013 – Mallusk 10.00 ko - Opposition – Albert Foundry
Holywood began this one-sided affair with a goal after only 4 mins. In only his second game for the team, Dozie tapped in from close range after good work from Thomas out on the left wing. Four mins later it was 2-0 with Thomas finding the net, again from only a few yards out. Dozie added a third with his 2nd goal of the game, this time beating the keeper in a one-v-one. And after a frustrating opening 20 mins for Jamie, he finally got on the scoresheet with a clever scooped lob over the advancing keeper to make it 4-0. On 25 mins Euan took a pass from a short corner by Niall and he sent over a brilliant cross for Tom Wilson to head into the bottom left corner of the net to make it 5-0. The goal-fest continued on 27 mins when Thomas had all the time in the world at the back post to slot home to make it 6-0.
Half-time : Holywood 6 , Albert Foundry 0.
The scoring continued early in the 2nd half when Dozie cut in from the left to shoot low past the keeper to complete his hat-trick. This boy is proving to be a good asset already!! Geo made it 8-0 after 45 mins when he picked up an excellent pass from Euan, rounded two defenders and finished with a cracking shot from just inside the box. With 5 mins left Tom Mc Ilhatton got himself a goal when he lashed a low shot into the net after a poor clearance from the opposition keeper. It should have been 10-0 two 2 mins later when Niall curled in a delightful shot from the edge of the box however the ref spotted somebody offside and it was disallowed. Not to be denied though, Niall did actually make it ten when he skinned a couple of defenders wide left, cutting inside and scoring from a tight angle. Apart from the seven different scorers we had, there were other notable performances. Paddy deputised in nets, and while he hadn’t much to do, his distribution to his defenders was excellent. Josh was “let out for the day”, and after he settled into the game he soon began tormenting the left-back and put some really good crosses in. Ben had a really comfortable game at centre back in his first start for the team. Like Dozie, I think we have found another valuable asset added to the squad. Cameron, Adam and Tongai as per usual were very steady and helped us keep a clean sheet. Result : Holywood 10 Foundry 0
