What a game of two halves. This team are the best in our league and to go 2-0 up was excellent and I thought we were outstanding in the first half and I couldn’t have been prouder. They were coming back into it towards the end of the half and I knew they’d come at us hard in the second half with the wind and the slope and they did. What disappointed me was that our heads went down when we went behind and we stopped talking, encouraging and working. We have to be mentally stronger. Remember this team beat us 10-1 last time so today’s result is a massive improvement.
JOSH Some great saves today but you need to command your box more and talk to your defence. A couple of goals came about today through indecision in coming off your line. Be on your toes and don’t stay on your line all the time.
JAMES Very solid again and was great with tackling, passing and throw-ins. Loose pass gave them a goal so try and remember not to dwell on the ball and put the ball out if you’re unsure. You were excellent today.
JOE W Great headed goal and strong and commanding at the back again. Try not to shoot out of the line too much as it kept leaving us exposed at the back. Overall though your tracking back and last ditch tackling was immense.
MAX Man of the match today. Superb tackling and passing from the back and you never gave up and worked your socks off.
DEFENCE: You were far too quiet today and you didn’t keep together as a line. You need to work on this and concentrate for the full 60 minutes.
JACK Some good moments going forward but as soon as we went behind you went into your shell and stopped talking and working. It’s a hard role you have but as captain you’re the leader out there and your head always drops. You can’t do that, you have to gee everyone up around you and lead by example. Not enough second balls won today.
JOE A Great effort today, some lovely skill on the ball and you never stopped working. In future I want you to push up higher as Connor was too isolated today and also try and release the ball more quickly when you’ve beaten a man. Very impressed with you so far. Keep it up.
MALACHI Great finish for the goal and you worked hard as always but you need to win a lot more second ball and be stronger as you get bullied off it too much. Work rate dropped a bit in the second half. Believe in yourself more, you’re a good player.
TOM Drifted in and out a bit today. Some good tackling but you need to stay focussed all the time and get forward more. Stop watching the ball and get into the game and influence it.
BLAYZE Better going forward today but you still need to learn about running into space and not being too static when balls are played through to you. Not enough second ball won, you need to be much stronger in challenges and winning the ball back.
MIDFIELD
Great first half, second half you stopped working and gave the back three far too much to do. More tackles, more second ball, more tracking back and more talking.
CONNOR Barely got a sniff today but worked hard in running the line and holding the ball up. Be careful about straying offside and timing your runs. Corner were fabulous. Don’t get frustrated. Joe A will be play higher next game as you need more support.
Overall boys it was a much better scoreline than I was expecting I’m just disappointed with the last 20 minutes. We have to keep going and not feel sorry for ourselves. Well done, I’m proud of all of you. See you at training and keep pepping.
