Bellingham vs. Heddon (at Selman Park)
Both teams started fast, lots of tackles and closing down in the early stages.
The only early chance falling to overlapping fullback Dan Ramshaw, who still hasnt scored for Heddon in about 3 years!
With the wind, Bellingham then had a spell of pressure ending with a very strong penalty shout, and a good save from Wadds.
Up at the other end, after a corner, Heddon scored the opening well-worked goal, Flem giving Murtagh an easy finish.
Goal: Murtagh. Assist: Flem.
The game then settled down. However Heddon struggled to find a killer ball, and were too regularly offside.
At that point Bellingham were causing problems, and looked capable of equaliser.
Murtagh put Woody through. but woody calmly missed the goal.
Then good passing down the right, freed Dan Ramshaw to cross into the six-yard box.
The ball found its way into the net via an unlucky Bellingham defender.
Goal: OG. Assist: Dan R
Again passing on the right produced goal number three for Heddon.
The ball was chipped forward to Dan Walker, who fed Sean. Sean exchanged passes with Ross and eventually tapped into an empty net.
Goal; Sean. Assist: Ross.
Finally Heddon took control and created some more chances. But no more goals before half time.
As the second half began the wind was strengthening.
Again, the first ten minutes were combative, but when the football did flow, Heddon looked good.
Murtagh and Burnie both missed open goals.
Dan Walker was looking desperate to score to keep up some kind of uninteresting record. One ‘cross’ from the touchline almost finding the net.
Then Heddon made the game safe. Ross’s inch perfect cross, and a good headed finish by Woody.
Goal: Woody. Assist: Ross.
Bellingham’s best move of the match almost brought a goal. Just wide of Wadds left post.
But immediately, Heddon moved the ball quickly up the middle, Dan Fleming lifting the ball through for Sean to score easily.
Goal: Sean. Assist: Flem.
With all five subs on, and the wind causing problems for all - Dan Walker missed another chance. Just curling one over the bar.
Joe was causing problems on the left, and Heddon kept pressing.
Dan Walker finally managed to keep up whatever record it was, slotting from ten yards. Created from the goal line by Richie
Goal: Dan Walker. Assist: Richie.
There was still time for Flem to line up a shot from range, and with the crowd expecting one in the field, he was unlucky to hit the underside of crossbar
Final score: Bellingham 0, Heddon 6.
