Goffs Gremlins 6-2 AFC Tiddlers

The Gremlins welcome a very down and beaten side to valley view today who have scored only 7 but not only that, conceded 28.

The Tiddlers have lost all of their opening 5 games, and today we only hope it gets worse for them.

We also welcome Paul Morley to Valley View today to hopefully make his debut and we wish him well for the season.

FIRST HALF

First half saw Humphry start with a 4-4-2 with Kane and Rebeiro up top supported by a solid, Lloyd Williams and Hunt in the middle.

New comer Paul Morley was not started in the final line up however became very useful later on in the game being subbed on for his first appearance and debut.

The game started off slowly for the Gremlins being at home, maybe because they were at home who knows but a very good shot from inside the half way line saw the number 7 for the Tiddlers hit a screamer into the top corner of the goal for Ian Edwards to drop it into the goal to make it 1-0 to the Tiddlers with 15 minutes played.

The game continued and a few efforts from Kane and Hunt were a little wide from the goalkeeper’s corners.

Lloyd played a very tough game in midfield keeping back up for Williams who pushed forward on every attacking occasion in the first half.

Bailey kept the defence line straight as did Matt Humphry the skipper. Hendle played left back and did well down the lines, and Dave Enright played very well going into every tackle and almost certainly coming out with the ball 99% of the time.

25 minutes played saw a through ball from Pat Hunt to Darren Rebeiro who quickly latched onto it and tapped it past the goalkeeper one on one to make it equal and to start what would be a goal frenzy!

1-1   (25 mins) D. Rebeiro #9

The game then turned back quiet again for a minute or two when pat hunt run onto a through ball the defender gave up on and blasted it into the net to make a convincing 2-1 lead after 28 minutes.

2-1 (28 mins) P. Hunt #6

The gremlins were pressured from the equaliser and the breakthrough finally came with Rebeiro running down the right wing, past two defenders to pass it to Andrew Williams coming into the edge of the box, who calmly turned a defender and slotted it past the goalkeeper to make it a 3-1 lead.

3-1 (35 mins) A. Williams #23

Coming to the end of the half saw a silly defensive mistake which allowed a Tiddlers midfielder in on goal and nothing but Edwards could do but watch the ball roll into his net to make it 3-2 on the 43rd minute.

SECOND HALF

The game was quiet for the first 25 minutes with Bailey and Hiddlestone keeping everything out of the air and along the floor, Hendle had a great chance which turned into a sitter, but never mind, because after Humphry made 2 changes with O’ Neill coming on and also Paul Morley making his debut, saw a great pass to Hendle who pushed left midfield who went on a great run one on one with the goalkeeper to slot it past him to have his first Gremlins goal for nearly three seasons.

The celebration was the best for the crowds as he instantly indicated that he wanted to be subbed off! J

4-2 (76 mins) J. Hendle #18

A few more chances from Williams who hit a great shot at the goalkeeper after a Rebeiro and Humphry chance saw it drop to him 35 yards out, only for the goalkeeper to save it into his hands comfortably.

Lloyd provided great through balls all game long, who then worked well with the last substitute Mazza who also had a great game.

The fifth goal came when Rebeiro took a through ball in his stride to take it left and pass the ball across the box for Morley to tap the ball past the keeper and score his first goal of the season and even better on his debut to make it 5-2.

5-2 (80 mins) P. Morley #17

The game continued to be a competitive end to end game when the ball dropped to Rebeiro at the edge of the Tiddlers area on the 88th minute and all the Tiddlers wanted was to see out the game when Rebeiro lobbed the goalkeeper standing flat footed to run off celebrating to end a very convincing win.

6-2 (88 mins) D. Rebeiro #9

Overall the Gremlins were favourites to win the game and done so very convincingly. They stay top by a point closely followed by The Spread eagle and The Chequers.

They have a game off next week with some of the players leaving for football duty in America!!! :P

We wish them all the best!

The bench still consisted of a few players unused but warm and ready to go on, so for Staines, Nalder, Cummines, MacGruer and plenty more, shows that the Gremlins have plenty of players ready for the cup clash against The Chequers on the 6th November.

Well done Gremlins!

Keep it up, heads on it for The Chequers!
