Flamengo All-Stars turned up with a 20 man squad feeling buoyant as they played local rivals.
First Half
The game got off to a great start with the defence (Davis, Andrew, Sam, Conrad) holding firm and clearing out any danger that came their way.
The half took a turn for the best when Yomi lofted a free kick towards the box that ended up in the goal, how it found its way in the net nobody knows but Flamengo found them selves 0-1 up and ask no questions.
Later in the half Yomi slipped Ashley through who raced on towards goal…………………..BAM, what a goal! The ball was drilled past the keepers near post, the shot was struck with venom 0-2.
Second Half
Flamengo made multiple changes to the second half and held their own defending against a fiery Leabridge Rangers who came out all guns blazing.
After a stalemate situation Leabridge pulled a goal back after their attacker scored a glancing header in the 80th minute from close range 1-2
Leabridge Rangers continued to attack while Flamengo were now defending for their lives and an opportunity presented itself when the home team’s winger received the ball in an offside position who squared it across to the on coming forward for a close range tap in 2-2. Result.
All in all this was a decent afternoon’s work and a useful excise as the newly looking squad still realises it full potential.
