Facelad went into this away fixture full of confidence after putting 8 away against high flying Highgate Albion, In a bizarre game which saw the referee actually cut the game shorter due to poor preparation from both sides.
Facelad started the game sluggishly being given more time then deserved on the ball, with several loose passes, long range efforts and poor work rate, the side was making hard work of what should have been a routine win.
After jerrys high and wide strike, alderman broke through after a good one two with clynes but lacked convinction with the strike, with more chances going to waste facelad resulted in long range efforts but finally after some good link up play between Lawrence and O’brien the chance beckoned for clynes to break a poor run of goal scoring form and the deadlock with a very straight forward tap in. Half time.
Facelad started the half brightly with very good possession stats, but frustration grew again with certain individuals losing focus on the task in hand, with loads of space on either flank this allowed facelads midfield to push high to pile the pressure on to Panathanikos. With Jack L and Charlie C in particular having loads of time to pick passes and put cross into the box.
Finally Facelad have some joy with alderman receiving a perfectly weighted pass from Charlie C, turning on the edge of the box to strike but due to the fast approaching defenders closing him down he toes a through ball for jerry to hit home for his second of the game.
Facelad unfortunately didn’t have it all there own way especially with Panathanikos left midfielder causing plenty of problems to facelads unprotected defence. With ryan on course for Facelads first clean sheet of the season he was then forced to defend a corner in which facelad dealt with with ease.
With several chances falling for Knott, O’Brien and alderman all being squandered clynes basked in the glory as he tucked away again with ease, this summed up the performance of Clynes in a game where everything he touched turned to goals.
After that Facelads complacency came into play when they seemed to think it to be all over with Lawrence losing possession high up the pitch and panathanikos breaking well to finish home, taking away what should have been a straight forward clean sheet for Facelad. That being said the overall performance from Mr Lawrence was outstanding.
After that the game was killed off by masses off possession and composure shown by all players left on the park as they closed out the game in a professional manner.
