TOUR TEAM MAKES HISTORY..20/01/2019...β¦β¦β¦... INTER VIAGRA SUPER VETS 1 EFF FC 5...β¦...β¦β¦β¦β¦...To commemerate this historic day I thought I would write a report so those that wern't there could enjoy it too.... Its been a long time, a very long time. You have to go back to November 29th 2014?? when a certain Johnny Devereaux masterminded our last win. And to be honest on a crisp frosty but surprisingly sunny sunday morning in Woolwich the omens did not seem great for any changes in our fortunes. ??The fact that a squad of 17 had diminished to 12 almost overnight and the negative attitude this understandably had on the players and hoards of travelling fans (3) makes this result all the more remarkable. ??To say the Gaffer wasn't happy??is an understatement and when we fell behind to very soft goal in the very first minute?? I couldn't help but have a feeling of deja vu. I and anyone else who felt the same where not allowed to wallow in this self pity for long as our skipper Big Dan barked out the moment was gone and to get our heads up and crack on. We grew into the game, played some tidy football and began to create chances. And then the moment arrived a corner on the left was swung in by the ever reliable Taters, the Inter defence missed their chance to clear and stooping like a duck the gaffer smashed a header into the back of the oppos net..?? 1-1 game on. The game was still pretty even with us defending a slight slope and bright sunshine in our eyes we where more than holding our own. With half time fast approaching Another corner from Paul Tate was this time met again at the back post by the gaffer(that's me) this time he rose like a salmon and headed back across goal where tour debutant Paul Froudy Froud scored with a spectacular over head kick...2-1. The half time talk was easy as long as we carried on as we where ..gave everything we have and stay tight we could find that elusive win. I could not have dreamed how well the lads where to play in the 2nd half...To a man they competed,to a man they encouraged and to a man they played simple but effective football. With Richard Kenyon and Daniel Newnham sewing up the central defence and David Dowd giving a giant performance (for a diddy man ) just in front there was no way through the middle and with Louis Loizou and The Gaffer working tirelessly at full back that route was invariably blocked as well ...On the right Gary Phillips supplied some sublime crosses one of which was headed home by Tates only for a dubious offside flag to wipe it out and on the left the ever reliable Dave the mod Smith worked his socks off before being replaced by Dave Moran who never put a foot wrong. This paved the way for Paul Tate,Paul Froudy Froud and Paul Stewart to work their magic up front...a couple of close range finishes by Froudy both assisted by Taters put us in complete control and of course completed the first ever tour player hat trick on his debut Despite an almost faultless performance by Jack Phillips in goal he did have a Speroni moment where he flapped the ball towards his own goal but the refs watch didn't buzz and he recovered just in time to knock it off the line. Paul Stewart completed a fantastic day by drilling home from the edge of the box after another assist by Tates...Add to this another goal that was disallowed (scored by Froudy again) because the keeper had hurt his hand and it seemed a bit unfair??. What a great day and was summed up when the proud EFF FC Supporters Kevin Lane,John Harris and David Parthee Smith ran on to the pitch to embrace their heros...Thanks guys D Ebrey Also known as The Gaffer??
