By the time the match kicked off it had become very cold and overcast, the bumpy pitch was quite hard and bare in places.
We kicked off towards the far end and settled into the game much quicker then Wendene, the first chance fell to Sam, after a lay off from Nik, he lined up to shot but fired over the bar, Nik had a half chance but there keeper ran out to clear, at the other end Will had little to deal with despite Wendene slowly coming into the game, most of the play was in the centre of the park, with Wendene gaining the upper hand, but our back four were more hen capable of shutting out any danger with Toms pace a real asset, Wacko was solid on the left and with both Fraser and Joe also playing well we were never threatened in the first 40 mins.
At the other end we were limited to a long range strike from Nik, JD worked hard, but with a man marker he wasnt getting as much time on the ball as he usually gets and was given little time to get a shot on goal, a couple of times when it looked like he had beaten the offside trap their keeper was quick to rescue them.

Drayton started the second half as they did the first and had most of the early chances, Jamie and Taylor started to come into the game a bit more and at lsst the ref started to give us some of the descisions, we had 3 or 4 freekicks just outside the box but wasted each one, failing to clear the first man. Connor was playing out of his skin and used his strength to win the ball in midfield and put Nik through, under pressure Nik missed the target.
Wendene at last had a couple of half chances both of which were dealt with by Will who punched clear on each occasion. But like the first half there were few chances and it was no surprise to see the game go to extra time.

The game started to open up a bit as players tired and chances started to fall to both sides, it was becoming stretched with both teams dropping deeper, we looked the more likely to score as we had the pace up front to get passed their defence, unfortunatly both Nik and JD failed to trouble their keeper, Nik had the best chance but again was thwarted by their quick thinking keeper.
Into the second half of extra time both sides for the first time started to look nervous with the threat of a penalty shoot out approaching it looked like only a mistake or bit of luck would win the game, in the end it was the former, with only 4 minutes to go we failed to clear our lines and the ball fell to a wendene player just inside the D, his first touch took him into the area and with his second he shot into the left corner of Wills net.
With hardly time to get back into the game Wendene ran the clock down and won the cup.

It was a great game and a great team effort, a special mention to Nik who was voted man of the match and to Craig and David who have done so well to get the team to the final.
