Home league match played on 11 December 2011.
Kicked off at 10:45 AM

New Buscots manager and Sunday League veteran Andrew Webster took his side to Melksham Oak School for his first game in charge verses Crossblades, suited and booted Webster rang the changes with previous manager Adam Bewley up front and Rob Drown back in the heart of the midfield, Buscots started extremely brightly keeping constant possession for long periods of time, but during the first half it was the home side who had the better chances. Liam Matthews and Tim Chilton, playing in the centre of the Blades defence threw their bodies at any shots that came their way, Bewley was constantly isolated and the visitors found themselves shooting from distance.

It was on 20 minutes when it looked like Crossblades would take the lead, James Grist was judged to have gone through the back of Carl Jacobi and the referee awarded a penalty, Jacobi dusted himself off to take the spot kick, but the kick was saved by Matt Hutchins, two minutes later Tim McNally saw his effort come back off the crossbar, again the home side had their chance to score but Mike Booth’s long range effort on the open Buscots goal sailed wide.

Their goal did come however 10 minutes before half time, Booths corner was half cleared and James Squire fired through a crowd of people to give them a half time advantage.

Webster read the riot act at half time and his efforts were rewarded, Jordan Dixon and Ashley Edwards significantly upped their game and made the difference, the equaliser came five minutes into the second half, man of the match Matt Hale made a pacy determined run down the right, his cross flashed across the goal and Bewley was on hand to tap in past the despairing John Hampshire. The second wasn’t far away, Bewley’s pinpoint corners proving a problem for the home side, Edwards took full advantage and nodded the ball home to put the visitors in the lead.

Phil Little then got in on the act, again Bewley’s corner wasn’t dealt with and Little headed home. Drown continued to flourish and had plenty of efforts but failed to get any on target, let alone get himself on the score sheet. The final goal came with eight minutes remaining, a cross ball fell at Dixons feet and he unleashed a shot which nestled into the top corner to hand Webster a 4-1 victory on his first game in charge as Buscot’s new boss.

After the game The Buscots Fanzone caught up with Webster who after being asked what he thought of the game, he replied ‘I was pleased with the way we retained the ball in the first half, we just didn’t have an end product, once we sorted out positioning out there was always going to be one winner. I was especially pleased with the way Dixon and Hale played, and am grateful we had Bewley playing. I am absolutely delighted with this squad I have inherited and hopefully we can go from strength to strength, It has always been my dream of managing The Buscots, its something I’ve wanted my whole life.’
