Alex went into this game hoping to make it double figures in terms of consecutive wins for the first time in the clubs history against a Recerativio side that posed a real danger as well as a hefty journey to East London, that had Jimmy Wardle reeling with so much confusion that he couldn't face playing!
Alex took to their task with real vigour, pinning their opponents into their own half and showing quality and assertion in equal measure. Daisy and Allcott in the middle proving too hungry for a Recreativo midfield lacking bite and application.
Rob Goodman playing off Iain Mantell was always available and showed great quality to find Matt Wood on the left wing time and again, who in turn was making his veteran opposing left back contemplate retirement at regular intervals.
It was soon one nil. Pressure from Tom Stroud and Oli Miller down the right led to a corner. Allcott took the corner and placed it onto the six yard line where the ever courageous Jon 'Daisy' 'Bryan Robson' Dey took no prisoners with a diving header into the net.
The second was soon to come. Will Sanders who was having a super game, using the ball effectively and calmly at right back took a throw in to James Allcott who found space and unleashed a 25 yard dipping volley that the goalie couldn't keep his hands on. Oli Miller was quick to live up to his poacher tag sniffing an opportunity and tapping in the rebound from close range.
HT.
Alex started the second half slightly wobbly with the loss of Goodman and Templeman to injury but after 15 minutes they were back into their stride with the introduction of Tiahan Eeles on the left wing.
The highlight of the game came with the Alex's third goal. Stuart Thompson aka Der Kaiser picked up the ball at centre back and got his head up. He threaded a ball into Allcott on the left hand side. Allcott took a few touches before evading an opponent and lofting a ball in between the left back and centre back of Recreativo onto the well timed run of Tiahan Eeles. Eeles took one touch before finshing with great quality and creativity, lobbing the goalkeeper from outside the box.
With Recreativo looking dazed and searching for an answer, Tiahan then turned provider as he his pace took him down the wing, he crossed a ball in to the middle where Wood showed scholes-esque timing to finish with aplomb as he has all season.
So Clapham Alexandra make it ten in a row and are looking as strong as ever. And with Project Clapham next up, this season could be just about to get interesting!
