This was always going to be a tough game for chorley against a team who'd already lost against 7-0 earlier in the season. That was our worst perfomance of the season and all the lads were eager to prove that was a ' blip'. chorlay setup witrh a 4-4-2 formation with callum returing in goal,a back four of Alex,Dan Edmondson,Josh and Gabriel a midfield of Jake, Euan, Dan Neary, Luke and a front two of Callum and Jordan.
We have a very bad habit of starting slow and this week was no exception losing an early goal to go 1-0 down. We have spoken at lenght about this and cannot quite work out why it keeps happening,my tgeory is we are giving the oppositipon too much respect and only getting going once we've out thatwe're as good as them. Once the ladfound their feet they strated to pass the ball around nicely and created some decent chances. Chorley scored a well deseved equaliser when Luke cut in fromthe right,beat 2 defenders and slotted the ball home. It was an excellent goal and hopefully will build confidence as we need to score more goals from other areas instead of relying so much on Jake, Jorda,Callum and Dan.
The rest of the half was pretty even and the score remained 1-1 until half-time. Jack came on to replace Alex at left back after he'd put in a good perforamce in the position the previous week. Chorley again strated the half slowly and were 2-1 down after failing to clear the ball that seemed to be in the chorley box for an hour!! There`s a time to try and play football but we need to clear our own lines quick when we are defending deep in our own half. Joe was brought on to replace dan but had to replace himself after picking up a bad kick on his ankle.
As the 2nd half went on chorley settled again and it was no surprise when dan neary found himself in a great position in the blackburn box, he showed quick thinking though to see that callum was in a better place and squared the ball for him to score and make it 2-2. I wasreally pleased about dan`s unselfish play as we`d spoked about working as a team rather than individuals and this was a good team goal. Both teams then had chances to take the lead but it was jordan who provided a piece of magic to make it 3-2. Jordan had been improving as the game went on and by now blackburn were stuggling to cope with him, he lifted a long range shot into roof of the net. This excellent goal was well deserved.
Blackburn scored a late equaliser to make 3-3. This remained the score until the final whistle. Watching and listening to the opposaition players does highlight how well behaved the chorley lads are and always show respect to the referee, the opossition players and the coaches, well done lads keep it up.
a few special mentions go to jake ball for winning the motm (again),josh for another of his ever improving defensive display, jack for another solid half in a new position, dan near for his pass and callum beddow for another solid performance in the nets.
