AFC Blandford V Canford United
Our latest match was tough away fixture at newly promoted Blandford.
The match was a scrappy and physical affair from start to finish.
Canford played some neat football but could not generate any real opportunities to shoot.
It was Blandford who scored first on 11mins intercepting a misplaced pass to break through and score.
Canford continued to find it difficult to generate any real chances and Blandford began to dominate across the pitch.
On 40 mins Canford conceded a penalty following lots of pushing and shoving by the Blandford striker and Eugene in the box.
However, Canford keeper Ben made a fantastic stop to keep the half time scoreline to 1-0.
Formation and personal changes followed at half time in the hope that Canford could generate some goal scoring chances.
It was Blandford however that scored on 60 mins with a well struck shot from outside the box into the bottom corner giving the keeper no real chance.
The game concluded with a scrappy ‘mix up’ goal on 90mins with players stopping when the ball went out of play only for the Blandford striker to tap in to an open net.
A disappointing 3-0 defeat but lots of important lessons learnt which will no doubt stand us in good stead for the return fixture.
