Three matches played today with the under 9s facing the under 10s and it was agreed by all that it was a great morning of football.
Match 1:
Under 10s 3-1 Under 9s
Under 10's dominated the first match showing some great passing and individual skill however Hurricanes gave a good account of themselves and showed no fear.
The play was against them though and the under 10s went 1-0 in just under 5 minutes Hurricanes showed some pace and got the ball into the U10s half but a turn around of play saw the U10s go 2-0 up with a well placed shot. Hurricanes to their credit did not lose heart and continued to battle with some great play from Kian Sherring and Alex Taylor with support from zack Jemmeh who made some great individual runs and showed great strength however it soon became 3-0 and the game looked to be all over.
That was until some great play from the Hurricanes saw a opening for Kian sherring who never misses an opportunity and he slotted home a great goal which meant the game ended 3-1 to the under tens but everyone agreeing the score did not reflect the game played. Defensively Joslie Fernandes, Joe Houghton, Kacey Clist, Toby Gough and Harvey Richardson stood up very well to some tough play and made some fantastic tackles.
Man of the Match: Zac Jemmeh
Match 2:
Under 10s 2-1 Under 9s
Hurricanes took a different stance to match 2 and looked stronger and even more determined and took the game to the U10s with flair and determination and showed some great attacking play however the U10s took the lead with a great goal but yet again the Hurricanes showed great determination and never looked to be the weaker side. Josh Brown joined the Hurricanes for the match and showed great individual run of play down the line and played some great passes, a foul on Toby Gough gave Josh Brown a chance for a free kick just outside the box and he took it with great poise only to see it pushed over the bar by the keeper.
Kacey Clist again showed some great tackling alongside Callum Ellicot and Josile Fernandes and held the defensive line brilliantly and Billy Johnson making some brilliant saves that kept the U10s at bay.
The second half saw a change of fromation with Joslie Fernandes Moving up front with Zack Jemmeh and Harvey Richardson and played some great football again Zack Jemmeh showed great strength and broke through the defence and played a perfect ball to Joslie Fernandes who played a blistering shot and scored a fantastic goal.
U10s now realising they were being matched in ability played a more passing game and upped the tempo but Hurricanes continued to match them.
it wasnt until the final few minutes that U10s saw a opening and scored making it 2-1 at Full Time.
Man of the match: Billy Johnson
Match 3:
Under 10s 2-2 Under 9s
Hurricanes third and final match saw them play as 9v9 15 minute match and was probably their best match. The game started like the other 2 matches with U10s taking the lead early in the half but the Hurricanes had the measure of the U10s by now and showed true grit and took the game to the U10s Josh Brown, Alex Taylor and Joe Houghton sat in defence and held their line well. A corner was awarded to the Hurricanes and Josh brown stepped up took it, he lifted the ball brilliant over all of the players and took a deflection of the defender and went in the goal although it looked like it was going in anyway with out their help! making it 1-1! play continued and Harvey richardson looked very determined and strong in midfield making some inch perfect tackles. The play seemed to be in a Hurricanes favour again Zac Jemmeh playing outstanding football in midfield along side Kian Sherring who also showed some great skill and strength. There was a sudden surge from the Hurricanes and a great passing play from Alex Taylor and Joslie Fernandez saw a shooting chance the ball was deflected it bobbed up into the air and Toby Gough hit a volley into the back of the net making it 2-1 to the Hurricanes with only 3 minutes to go!
However as the tme ran down a managerial mishap on my part saw a defence clearance fail and the U10s took the chance and scored making it 2-2 in the dying seconds.
and ended on that score.
Man of the match: Kacey Clist
That aside the Hurricanes played with heart and soul and great teamwork, it was a beautiful morning for footall and everyone enjoyed it
