Boars Rock travelled the short journey through the shitehole of douglas to the glorius sunshine at claypotts park for the opening game of the Dundee Sunday Footbal league season.
Boars going into this game on decent form through preseason were still looking for there first win and started off very shaky with ferraris going into an early lead through a defensive error and some lucky play. A punt from the ferraris defence was failed to be dealt with by the boars defence and the ball popped up over the helpless bobby mchugh who was off his line. 1-0 FERRARIS.ter
However this would be the closest point to them getting near the boars net as from there on out it was the boars who dominated the rest of the game! once the skipper shirley settled the troops the boars got a quick response with a quick break by muzz set up left back JAMIE nosebleed MEECHAN with a chance who curled the ball into the bottom corner. 1-1
This was then followed by and 2nd soon after, when a ball was played over the top by goalkeeper bobby and rikki ran on to meet the ball before the keeper who then in turn managed to almost kill wee tricky, however the ball landed at the feet of MURRAY BISSET to score and stick the boar into the lead. 2-1
For 20 mins it was a fairly even game however the ferraris didnt cause too much danger and if any the back for dealt with however chances were missed by muzz, rikki, and dylan to make the scoreline comfortable. However 5 mins before the break boars got their 3rd goal from CHRIS smalley SMALL who lobbed the ball over the helpless keeper. 3-1 h/t
The 2nd half started with the rain pouring down over claypotts however this allowed the surface to be slick which shouldve suited the boars game. boars soon got their fourth goal off the game when a quick break allowed rikki to run free before slipping it across to MURRAY BISSET to control and place in the corner. 4-1
Scott the gaffer Howard was looking to now bring on changes to rest boys for the game on tuesday however felt that with the wind behind ferraris back he needed one more goal for security. This came 60 mins into the game when some neat passing down the right hand side allowed gary to cross the ball in for MURRAY BISSET to score another goal. 5-1
The subbies came on however this did not hinder the side with impressive showings from clark and steve allowed the side to score two more goals both coming again from the MOM MURRAY BISSET. and the final score of 7-1.
Overall, it was an impressive performace throughout the team who have only really played together 3 times. This shows how much potential this team has and if we keep building towards things, bring in sponsers we could be one of the best teams in the league. Howvever lets not get too carried away and take one game at a time.
MOM today was only one winner. MURRAY BISSET had a stormer and not only scored 5 goals but his runs and closing down was an example to the team of what hard work gets.
Lets take this into tuesday night. MON THE BOARS!!
