Bexley Athletic secured an overdue first win against lower league Lessa FXI at The Pavilion ground to march on in the Dewar Shield. Goals from Klavs, Louis, and Laurie were enough to see off the underdogs who offered very little over the course of the game.
After the game, manager Dan Davis spoke to Sky Sports Geoff Shreeves
Geoff “A great win for you, what was the most pleasing aspect of the game”
Dan “We controlled the game from minute one to minute ninety. We limited the opponent to very little chances. It was a special performance. With the greatest respect to Lessa, two goals flattered them.”
Geoff “Who stood out the most today”
Dan “Matic and Fabregas were sensational in midfield. But its not about individuals; I must congratulate all my players today. Everyone was amazing.”
Geoff “You conceded a bizarre goal in the first half, what was your view on what happened there”
Dan “I could see Rob was struggling carrying the extra weight of his curry. I was ready to pull off an amazing save when he come bulldozing back in."
Geoff “Will you be talking to Rob about his pre-match curry habbit”
Dan “There is no point; he needs to get his fix. He’s addicted.”
Geoff “Injured Elton only turned up for half a game today, what did you make of that”
Dan “It was as if he was playing”
Geoff “You’ve waited four weeks for this win, what will this do for you ahead of the visit of Woolwich Spartans next week”
Dan “As you know the club has gone through many changes over the past five months. We are learning and improving game by game. However we are entering a different phase now. From being outplayed in weeks one and two, the performance last week was good enough for a win; and today we earned that win. We need to continue to develop to turn our chances into goals; and minimise chances given to the opposition.
