Away league match played on 18 September 2011.
Kicked off at 2:10 PM

The second match of the season saw the mighty Rockets with a new addition to the squad in Mya Gerrard enabling the luxury of a substitute to give tired legs brief rest-bite on the big pitch. The game started with Tom in goal, well volunteered Tom, Joel and Jake shoring up the rear, Joe and Alex on the flanks and Hayden and Jack driving through the middle. Mya watched for the first half taking in the positions. The first half kicked off and the Rockets were quickly into their strides, passing and moving really well and putting the Cougars under pressure from the off. Jack, Alex, Hayden and Joe all marauding forward pushing the Cougars back, and but for a few last ditch tackles all four of the Rockets could have opened the scoring. Jake and Joel joined in the attacks and the Rockets continued to show good ball retention and vision in possession. Joe produced some good shots, Hayden hit the post, Jack hit the side netting and Alex had the ball cleared by the last man at least twice. Tom had little to do but on the odd Alsager attack Joel and Jake covered very well and dealt with any lone attacks. Tom distributed very well and found his teammates confidently. The pressure on the Alsager goal was beginning to tell and a great though ball from Joe released Hayden, one on one, Hayden scoring with his second attempt, only what was deserved. 1-0 Rockets. By now all the Rockets were firing on all cylinders and continued to pass the ball, Jack had some great through balls to Hayden and Joe and Alex were both unlucky not to add a second. Alex was enjoying the freedom on the wing and Jake added to the attack and had a couple of chances. As the half came to a close Rockets were well on top. Into the second half and Mya came on for Alex on the wing and Rockets continued as they left off, bearing down on the Cougars defence time and again. This half the Cougars did show signs of gaining possession when the Rockets pushed up a little too much, but Joel did a good job snubbing out any threat. Another pass and move from Jack and Joe had the final ball to Hayden again one on one, and the cool Hayden slotted his second and the Rockets second of the game. 2-0 Rockets. The subs bench was rolling off and on now giving tired legs a breather, and allowing Alex to come into defence and Joel pushed up. Joe was enjoying the space afforded to him and showed good speed and dribbling. Jack was enjoying possession too and Mya was getting involved passing the ball well and tackling when needed. Alex was strong when required and was always quick into the tackle. Joel was making his presence felt up front and a slicing through ball from Joe was well controlled and dispatched into the corner from the big fella. 3-0 Rockets. Tom came out of goal, Hayden went in, Jack was rested and the Rockets continued to dominate. Tom enjoyed time on the wing and had a couple of lung bursting runs, Jake showed good vision and passing and had a couple of chances to extend the lead. Hayden was relatively untroubled but when needed he used his feet to clear the lines. A curtain closer from Joe was a volley from 20 years that hit the cross bar, really unlucky but a spectacular effort. The game finished 3-0 Rockets, Mya had a great debut, Jack and Joel showed good passing, Joe made great runs and a couple of attempts on goal that another day would have gone in. Hayden scored a brace and never slowed until in goal, Alex showed his versatility on the wing and at the back and Jake and Tom both had a solid game, running with the ball well and enjoying high passing rates. All did really well and deserved the win, well played both sides and the first win for the mighty Rockets on the baord. Well done all.
